Oh, yes, dear reader, I know what you must be thinking upon discovering this post. It's been quite a while since you've read from me! And I owe you some explanations. First of all, if you remember, I work in tourism, and spring means for me that the season is starting, so I have a lot of work. I must also confess to you that I launched a music podcast in my native language, French, earlier this year, and that has taken up a lot of my time. But when I opened my release radar today, my heart nearly stopped. Four artists from the IMC Family sharing the same release date, including two who are making their big comeback after a long absence, doesn't happen every Friday. So I had to tell you about it! Let's discover without further delay the new masterpieces from Allison Leah, Luna Keller, Kahone Concept, and Thomas LaVine!

_________________

Allison Leah - Sunsets

17 months. It took 17 months before finally being able to discover a new song from Allison Leah, since the release of her magical EP "The Weight of My Heart" at the end of 2022. I can tell you that the big fan of Allison that I am was more than impatient and starting to tap his foot.

Allison is one of the few artists who can make me cry after a few notes, as she did with "24 Years Down". And she succeeded again when I discovered the first seconds of "Sunsets". In less than two sentences, we are completely immersed in this love story and immediately sense that it is no longer current.

And we immediately share this emptiness, this sadness. Every moment, every smell, every movement, every landscape, every memory that built this relationship instantly unfolds before your eyes. Allison's immersive power is still as impressive.

As always with Allison, the symbiosis between the lyrics and the music is absolutely perfect, and the intensity grows throughout the track to give even more chills. And we end up with a tissue in hand and eyes moistened. But it feels good! It was definitely worth the wait!

Reach out to Allison Leah

_________________

Luna Keller - Not Ready

Let's stay in the IMC Family with Luna Keller's monthly return, delivering the sixth chapter of her "Ocean Inside Of Me" saga. And it's Luna's 20th feature on IMC! Woohoo!

The music video opens with a spider calmly resting on a tree, symbolizing the fact that what may seem like a small detail to fix can quickly become too big to handle.

Inner battles, that's the subject of this concept album that classifies in chronological order the stages one may go through when our mind and body are no longer in agreement. "Not Ready" is, one might say, the chapter where everything changes. And the music video illustrates very well this logical sequence of stages, where we can see Luna chained by ropes to trees in the middle of the forest, fighting with this certain death standing in front of her.

Fortunately, whether in this very realistic illustration or in real life, Luna survives and ultimately escapes her grim fate. And we are indeed glad that this is the case so she can now tell us this incredible story, with the talent we know she has.

Do I still need to remind you of the precision with which Luna works? Whether visually or musically, her talent is pushed to the extreme, starting with the writing, and that haunting line: "How do I end this pain without ending myself?"

Well, rest assured, Luna is doing fine, and the next chapter of her adventure will allow her to find comfort on the shoulder of an artist from the IMC Family. But shh! We wouldn't want to spoil the rest for you.

Reach out to Luna Keller

_________________

Kahone Concept - Mommy's Lil Rockstar

Here's an artist who, like Luna, delights us by delivering a new masterpiece every month from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The IMC artist I've known the longest is back today with a soaring pop song with an evocative title that fits well with the quirky character he embodies: "Mommy's Lil Rockstar".

And what a pleasure it is to reunite with Ben and his long, spine-tingling sung notes. It feels like rediscovering the audacious and unrestrained Kahone Concept from his beginnings. Always with the humor we know him for, Ben describes a very different battle from Luna's: the character in the song wants to be a star. That's it. And he's ready to do anything. Of course, all of this is to be taken with a lot of tongue-in-cheek, but the song is written very cleverly, as usual, and the production that Ben masters perfectly emphasizes this brilliant writing.

Somewhat in the vein of his single "Maybe," which remains a classic for Kahone Concept fans, this new single once again allows us to marvel at an impressive vocal performance and a well-calibrated mastery of energy and power. Oh la la, the repeat button is going to suffer!

Reach out to Kahone Concept

_________________

Thomas LaVine - Found

And we conclude with Thomas LaVine's new single, "Found," taken from the EP "Between the Good & What I Want", which also features his four previous singles. And what a pleasant surprise, as you can see above, the song is accompanied by a music video. Why do I talk about a surprise? Simply because Thomas LaVine hadn't filmed a music video since "World of Gray", the song with which we discovered him in May 2020!

And this time, our "Waterboi," as we like to call him because of the numerous references to water in his song titles, Thomas doesn't jump into a lake in a t-shirt. No, it's in the setting where he's most comfortable: the countryside, clad in a jacket that prevents the wind from assaulting him too much. His travel companion is an old wooden chair, which he enjoys moving according to his desires to sit and reflect for a few moments. But he quickly realizes that no matter where he is, his fears always take over, as he explains in the song, and his chair then becomes a burden to drag around like his unease. We also find in the song the title of the EP "Between the Good & What I Want," which confirms this feeling of indecision.

Whether it's on the visual side with this wonderful music video or on the musical side with this powerful and moving folk song, Thomas LaVine leaves the same impression: an impressive gain in maturity.

Reach out to Thomas LaVine

_________________

That's all for today! Stay tuned for new song discoveries very soon! Have a great weekend!

And it's Friday again! Time flies! Well, we must admit that since the beginning of January, we've received an uncountable number of submissions, and it's not always easy to sift through them. Let's be honest, when you're a music curator, this is even the step that takes up the most time. Even more time than writing the articles! But continuing to serve you the cream of the crop directly into your ears every week is a challenge we love to tackle because the encounters we make along the way are incredible. And we still have some great songs released today to offer you starting Monday (because we don't want you to do the job of the music curator and end up drowning in songs either). Here are already 3 songs that could become your all-time favorites, to savor all weekend!

_________________

Dom Malin - Surface

And here we go for Dom Malin's 10th feature, the wonderful Birmingham-based artist on IMC. The quality of his work has allowed him, starting from his 5th feature, to join the IMC Family, and since then, he has never ceased to amaze us.

Dom made our 2023 dreamy! In January, we fell for "All I Know," thinking at that moment that it was his best single to date. Then, in April, he proved us wrong by releasing the single "The Sea," maintaining that exceptional level of quality and professionalism. And in September, he hammered it home with "Fever", where he explored new musical horizons by injecting us with good old '80s vibes intravenously. Could he do even better? The answer is definitely yes.

His new surprising single, "Surface", released today on all platforms, explores yet another new genre to add to his already diverse discography: rock. Among all his releases, "Surface" stands out for its incredibly measured energy.

Right from the intro, we understand that Dom Malin is sending us a message, like "Watch out, this is different from usual!" Message received. A low, almost whispering voice on the verses, a high voice on the choruses, carried by successful harmonies, delivering the power Dom has accustomed us to. A quite striking contrast that we really like. All the struggles of the songwriter shine through every line and you can easily relate. If you also feel like your sinking, this song could be your new motivation! Also, if you've never heard Dom Malin screaming, just wait for the bridge and let yourself be surprised.

We've said it before on IMC, and we'll say it again: what's exceptional about Dom Malin is his ability to create very catchy melodies that sneak into your brain and refuse to leave for weeks. Yes, we discovered this song in early January, and since then, it's been playing in our heads non-stop.

With our 22 years of radio experience, let's remember that a song has all its chances of catching a programmer's attention if a catchy chorus pops up around the 40-second mark. The box is checked for "Surface." The potential is enormous. If you have a radio station, go for it! You'll only do good to your listeners.

If you're like us, music fans, "Surface" will quickly become one of your all-time favorites.

Reach out to Dom Malin

_________________

Olive Riggio - Tropical Depression

"Tropical Depression" is the fresh single from Olive Riggio, a fantastic singer-songwriter straight outta Brooklyn. In the New Jersey scene, she describes herself as a teen. We would rather say a fairy.

If your life is a bit like a wild storm, and you're wandering around without a clue, this masterpiece is your jam.

Brace yourself for a song with a twist – it's got a wild second half that'll make your musical compass spin.

This track stands out like a flamingo in a penguin parade. Olive serves up mature and reflective poetry, and her enchanting vocals will convince you to clear some space on your playlists for this incredible artist. Welcome to the IMC stage, Olive!

Reach out to Olive Riggio

_________________

Taylor T - Solitude In Silence

If, just a few days ago, you asked me which member of the IMC Family has been MIA in the music scene for too long and I miss the most, I would have said Taylor T and Ben Greenberg. So stumbling upon a new single from Taylor T, you know, it's like unexpectedly finding Christmas in February – a gift from the heavens.

Having known Taylor and written about him nine times in less than four years, I can guarantee that this artist always has a trick up his sleeve to surprise you. His musical evolution mirrors his travels around the globe, with new influences gradually weaving into his sonic repertoire. Yes, that's it – I would say that Taylor is constructing his musical identity like a puzzle, with loads of patience and humility.

"Solitude In Silence" is more than polished in terms of production: the song is filled with intriguing details that are as essential as they are captivating in building a unique musical universe brimming with emotion. Once again, it's an immersive road trip into the mind of one of IMC's most beautiful souls. You effortlessly get carried away by his words, daydreaming for over four minutes that seem to fly by. And once you reach the end of the song, you crave more. So you hit replay. Again and again.

Taylor T's music is one of the most addictive substances, and thankfully, it won't break the bank. You'll also gain a lot of self-awareness because each song prompts deep reflection.

Reach out to Taylor T

Happy Friday, indie music lovers! We're making a grand entrance into 2024, like the cool kids we are. Brace yourselves for our first lineup of the year – and guess what? The girls are in charge this week! Yep, we're all about that equality, folks. Now, go ahead, sprinkle these tunes into your Spotify playlists, and shower these artists with love on every platform. Trust us, they'll appreciate it more than your cat appreciates a fresh box. Find all the links conveniently placed in the article – because we're fancy like that!

_________________

Rebecca Hurn - Turbulence

Three years. Yes, three years we've been waiting for this. And we know you, dear readers, have been eagerly anticipating a new song from Rebecca Hurn, whom we fell in love with back in 2021 when she presented us with her song "Panic", the catchy chorus of which is now echoing in our heads just by reading the title. Yes we know it thanks to your numerous DMs asking "when does she return?"

Three years of the fiery redhead from South Wales, making a mark in NYC, working in the shadows on her debut album "Brace For Impact" and here's finally a first sneak peek: "Turbulence".

It encapsulates everything that makes us instantly love Rebecca Hurn: a highly immersive writing style, full of brilliant metaphors that immediately paint a great picture in our minds. Juggling the art of metaphor, Rebecca compares the challenges one might face in a relationship with a turbulent plane journey, as she explains:

"Experiencing turbulence during a relationship, mental health, or even an uneasy flight - these lyrics all intertwine together to describe perfectly how it feels to feel out of control."

Once again, as in "Panic", the magic happens right from the start, thanks to that unique vocal signature that truly stands out from the daily noise, and that raw sensitivity that makes it feel like we're listening to a close friend singing, even if we've never met this person in real life. Can't wait to hear the album!

Willowspeak - Out They Flow

In his latest single "Out They Flow", he takes you on a lyrical adventure through the changing seasons, and guess what? It's out today. Yes, it's February, already! Time flies like it's got a private jet, and it can be a bit scary. But no worries, because this song might just be the ideal sidekick to navigate through all those swift changes.

The production is packed with details that you'll only catch with a decent pair of headphones. We say it too often on IMC: good music isn't meant to be enjoyed on some sad smartphone speaker. Artists deserve better because they've spent time crafting all those little nuances that matter in the final mix.

"Out They Flow" wraps around you like a fluffy cloud, slowing down the chaotic race of this world that spins too fast. It's like a comforting hug we all need right now. Warm vocals and a sweet, pleasing melody - that's all it took to captivate and enchant us. Listen on repeat all weekend and beyond, if you fancy.

Reach out to Willowspeak

_________________

Faith Zapata - wallet picture song

At IMC, we're always blown away by the new generation of independent musicians. Some of them are so brilliant and inventive! Take Faith Zapata, for instance.

The song you're about to dive into has two sides: the first part is the perfect love declaration – "And I’m the first thing that he sees when he wakes up / And I don’t care how much of my time he takes up". Yes, we said perfect, because reaching such an immersive level of writing at just 22 is quite mind-blowing!

The second part of the song shatters all the innocence found in the first: written this time after the breakup, the second half is much more cutting but equally brilliantly written – "He watched me play the game for us while he warmed the benches / And there’s nothing I am better at than getting my revenge".

Many clever parallels cleverly sprinkled throughout the song give it an almost symmetrical aspect, the imperfect mirror of a relationship that was far from ideal. Thus, "I'm captivated" becomes "I'm devastated", and "I’d never felt real love before ‘til I met you" transforms into "I’d never grieved the way I did when I left you".

As you've gathered, Faith Zapata masters the art of songwriting like no one else, with her unique style, and enchants us with an almost bare vocal performance that manages to convey maximum emotions in a minimalist production. A true artistic masterpiece elegantly dressed in delicate strings and an acoustic guitar that almost fears disturbing this perfect symbiosis of conflicting emotions. Pure genius!

Reach out to Faith Zapata

Finally, let's do a shout-out to artists from the IMC Family! Thomas LaVine is back today with a new single "Make My Soul A River". Luke Beling as well, with "Let Tomorrow Come"!

Happy Friday, indie music enthusiasts! As we approach the year's end, I'm thrilled to present the last 'Friday Releases' of 2023, featuring two incredible artists who've graced us with their musical magic.

First up is Ben Drysdale from the enchanting landscapes of Australia, making his debut on IMC with 'If I Don't Lie Down.' And returning to our stage is the talented Nicky Phillips from the UK, known for capturing hearts with her previous feature 'Home' in 2021.

But wait, there's more! Even though this marks the final 'Friday Releases' for the year, stay tuned for an exciting surprise coming your way next week. Wishing you all a joyous holiday season filled with music and merriment!

_________________

Ben Drysdale - If I Don't Lie Down

Yes, after Ben Greenberg, Ben Stafford, and Ben Orrvick (Kahone Concept), we still needed a Ben. We can't help it if the Bens are talented, that's how it is! And it is in Australia that you have the best chance of meeting Ben Drysdale, in Canberra to be more precise.

After playing in several bands and playing around Canberra and the east coast of Australia for almost 20 years, it's time for Award-winning Ben to take off solo with this debut single. Yes, you read correctly. Debut single. Hard to believe, isn't it?

Because in “If I Don’t Lie Down”, everything is perfectly mastered, from the writing to the production. Luscious vocal harmonies, simple but impactful writing, and a melody that gets into your brain in less than 20 seconds. You'll sing along from the second chorus, guaranteed!

Such a level of quality on a debut release is almost unreal. It's been over a month since Ben sent us this song, and it hasn't left our minds since. Did we say “catchy”? In short, this may be Ben Drysdale's first feature on IMC but it won't be the last, that's for sure!

Reach out to Ben Drysdale

Oh yes, it’s already been 2 years since we introduced you to Nicky Phillips. The wait was long but it was worth it!

The artist is back with "Old Oak Tree", a pretty acoustic folk ballad which comes at the right time since the solstice takes place next week (this clever little wink slips into the lyrics).

Lots of kindness and sincerity in this barely concealed declaration of love, parts of which were recorded in England and others in Canada with producer Joel Schwartz. We love intercontinental collabs, especially when they are wonderful like this one!

Christmas is slowly creeping up, and it's going to hit us faster than an unexpected snowball! The pace of releases is taking a chill pill, and we know that 2023 is about to bid us farewell forever. The cold is settling in here in the Northern Hemisphere, so let's take a detour to the Southern Hemisphere in this post, where summer is rolling in. We'll warm up with some indie-folk tunes that are not just easy on the ears but also cozy for the soul.

We hope you enjoy this carefully curated selection and, as always, we invite you to follow and cheer on these artists. Consider it our musical way of layering up for the winter and sunbathing for the summer simultaneously!

_________________

Mae Krell - this place

Mae Krell is an artist who is part of a very closed circle: those unique voices that we could listen to for whole days without ever getting tired. Their voice is exceptional but we've already told you that since it's Mae Krell's 4th feature on IMC (yes, the doors to the IMC Family are getting closer!)

The first good news is that their debut album finally has a release date, it will be in April 2024! And we're impatiently waiting for it!

Second good news: the 4th extract from this album, "this place", out today, lets all of Mae Krell's sensitivity shine through, with emotional lyrics and a folk sound that is unique to them, and which plunges us once again into their most intimate torments: "The song was born from a moment of experiencing that normalcy I missed out on, written directly after attending my girlfriend's sister's high school graduation earlier this year".

Reach out to Mae Krell

Yes, after "This Place", let's go to a "Distant Place"! What a smooth transition!

Australian artists have always been popular on IMC. When two of them, Rod Coote & Bree Rusev, create a wonderful and bewitching collaboration, they act like a magnet: the good vibes spread easily!

“Distant Place”, released today and produced by Garrett Kato (yes, him again!) will literally transport you wherever you want just by closing your eyes. As the artists explain to us: "We wrote it together in our coastal suburb inspired by a feeling of escapism & reverie of a distant location when life becomes overwhelming or mundane".

This new song is therefore your passport to a moment of escape lasting just over three minutes, wonderfully well put together, where the two unique voices of these two maestros mix as if they were born for it.

Reach out to Rod Coote

Laura Lucas - The Dreamer

This is Laura Lucas' third feature on IMC. We fell in love with her music in 2020 with "Fault Line". Then we found her again a year ago in a duo with Rod Coote (yes, he's also part of our selection today, small world, isn't it?)

Although originally Canadian, Laura Lucas now lives in Australia and her previous EP was produced by Garrett Kato. When we say "small world", we really mean it! In "The Dreamer", taken from the 6-track EP with the same title released today, Laura Lucas mixes melancholy, contemplation, and reflection in a slow and immersive folk ballad.

Although many people would classify this song as either the folk or indie folk genre, we wouldn't be so radical. Laura Lucas' music has that little extra of reverie which makes it a unique genre of her own. And the warm tone of her vocals never tires. An EP that we will enjoy all weekend!

Lotta St Joan - Always

Let's wrap up our worldwide tour of releases in Germany, all while staying in the same soothing vibe. We've known Lotta St Jean for a few years now. You might remember her from, say, Episode 15 of "Why Doesn't Everyone Know These Songs", released back in November 2020.

Her new single, "Always" hit us like a lightning bolt from the first line: "Forgiving is a gift they say so I sit and wait until the day for anger to let go of me". Maybe I've told you before about how I got bamboozled by my mother, who lied to me for over 30 years. Unforgivable, and I'll never quite make it to the forgiveness finish line. What's funny is, unknowingly, this marvelous artist served us this song, ending her pitch with "I hope it speaks to you"! If only you knew!

Just a guitar, some beautifully crafted vocal harmonies, and the magic kicks in from the first few seconds. The intensity builds gradually, culminating in vocal soars that are almost divine in the final stretch. Goosebumps incoming!

We can't believe it's already Friday! And even more so that it's already December! This year 2023 has passed at an astonishing speed. The pace of releases becomes challenging for us when we have already covered over 1600 artists; our release radar is bursting every Friday, offering nearly 150 discoveries each time! It's challenging to write about everyone and, most importantly, to make choices. But here are three gems we have selected for you with love to start December warm by the fireside.

_________________

Thomas LaVine - Better Days

That acoustic guitar that envelops you from the first seconds... You immediately recognize the touch of Thomas LaVine even before he starts singing. For those who have never been to IMC before, welcome! Know that Thomas LaVine has been comfortably settled on our sofa since 2020. And since then, he has never ceased to amaze us. 2021, 2022, 2023. He's still here. And so is his talent.

Always there at the right moment with the right song. "Better Days" keeps us company during the long winter evenings, waiting for... better days. Comforting, and warm, with production as wonderful as ever, the song transports us to the Appalachians, where it was written in a cabin with friends. Yes, for once, Thomas didn't work alone in his tool shed at the back of his garden, and it did him good, as he explains:

"The experience of spending a weekend making music with others felt like a special one and a welcome change to my normal routine. The song is about experiencing life in between the moments of good and bad, where you don’t quite feel satisfied but you don’t know why".

And this cohabitation suited him perfectly. MTV's "Teen Mom" opened the doors to synchronization with his single "Crumble," and his ascent continues slowly but surely. A discreet, humble, and serene artist who, as always, invites rest and reflection. A fabulous indie folk track that you can also enjoy in an acoustic live version here.

Reach out to Thomas LaVine

_________________

Dune Moss - Lullaby Please Don't Lie

On September 1st, when we posted about Dune Moss in a long-form article, saying that we had taken a big beating... we didn't think that she would repeat the experience two months later.

Second time on IMC, the second slap in the face for us, second favorite. Oops, she did it again. And she can do it as many times as she wants, because we love good surprises. Dune Moss is this little candy well wrapped in attractive and colorful paper, and it turns out to be a little tangy. A lot of acidity, ultimately.

Yes, once we dig a little deeper, we discover in this lovely fairy, deep feelings that war with each other, and this war often ends in music with a new masterpiece. This is the case for "Lullaby Please Don't Lie", which once again confronts her with the difference between the religious education she received, and her own perception (now autonomous) of the world around her. An almost mystical beginning of a song that would make a nice soundtrack for an adventure film, then an explosive finale as we like them, with vocal flights that are almost superhuman to be real and which give the thrills that we come to look for on IMC.

Reach out to Dune Moss

_________________

Morning Bear & ELLSWORTH - Learning How

When we received this song, we were struck by the pitch: "Have you ever been too hard on yourself after making a mistake? Maybe even the same mistake over and over again?". Oh my god, yes, often. And probably you too.

And if a song seems relatable to a lot of people, it's likely to find a warm spot on your playlist. "Learning How" is the wonderful collaboration between Morning Bear and Ellsworth released today and reminds us how important it is to accept that we are not perfect. Nobody is perfect. Yes, it seems a bit cliché, doesn't it? But it's so true.

Just an innocent little folk ballad, with wonderful vocal harmonies, as if these two voices were born to be together on the same song. We feel such a symbiosis that we even wonder why they didn't do it before. The writing is both discreet and full of metaphor but also quite directive: "Don't be turning around, no / You will find your way out".

John and Megan created a little masterpiece here, which proves to us that nothing is impossible if we don't dwell too much on our mistakes. A successful collaboration that we would like to hear more often. And guys, why not make this official in the form of a duo that would release releases regularly? You have all the potential to do it!

Hi everyone! We have a super Black Friday opportunity for you today, guys! For three songs purchased, you get three songs! For only $0. Who offers better? For this weekend (which we know is long for our American friends), we found three indie-folk gems to put in your ears by the fire. We hope you enjoy this selection!

_________________

Luke Beling - Into This New Year

What? A holiday song IMC? What's happening to you, Niko? Yes, it's true, I never write about holiday songs on IMC for the simple reason that I would always write the same thing: "This song is perfect to get into the holiday spirit".

Only maestros like Luke Beling can change my mind. When it's done well, and it's not teeming with hysterical little dancing elves, it suits me. Luke Beling's voice alone is enough to captivate me, as you know since this is his 6th IMC Feature. Our IMC Family member has once again set the bar very high. We love the piano, we love the acoustic guitar, we love original vocals, and we love perfectionist work. It's all there in this song.

And also, it's a song that is truly open to others, which allows sharing with those you love and are dear to you. And you can sing along to this gem with the ones you love. Could we ask for more? Perfection? No, Luke already reached it a long time ago.

Reach out to Luke Beling

_________________

Jessica Heine - Another Love

Let's now welcome Jessica Heine, from Canada. This talented artist has been making music for almost as long as we've been promoting indie music. And it shows in her writing.

Her new single "Another Love", released today, is written from a rather original point of view, which we have never seen before. We often hear beautiful love songs that highlight an unconditional love that we are happy to have found. Or breakup songs about a love we thought would last forever. But what if the love we currently have is enough for us?

This is the message that Jessica wanted to convey, as she explains to us with great lucidity: "I like the idea that one love could be enough, that one love could satisfy. The world won't stop when someone we love is gone, but perhaps in some cases, the cup was full enough that there is no need to drink from another glass".

Both a word juggler and a poet, Jessica Heine envelops us with exceptional softness thanks to a precise mastery of emotions in her warm vocals.

We are sorely lacking women in the selective world of indie-folk, and Jessica Heine has come to solve this puzzle that bloggers often face. A genuine artist you can trust with your eyes closed.

Reach out to Jessica Heine

Daniel Trakell - Still

Well here is a situation that IMC has never faced. Featuring the same artist two days in a row. But there is a French adage which says that when you love, you don't count. So, let's taste once again the exquisite flavors of Daniel Trakell's album "Into The Blue", which has been released today.

“Still” is the opening track of this collection of 10 gems that you won’t be able to live without. The perfect soundtrack for a fall weekend by the fire. The song explores the difficulties of moving on from a relationship that is more toxic than anything else. This almost irresistible temptation to hurt yourself. Oh yes, I experienced that, and I talked about it in the “IMC Rewind” podcast. But many of you have already had this kind of weird experience and it is sometimes difficult to put it into words.

Daniel Trakell succeeds in this exercise with talent (as always), and through this song led by a nostalgic and melancholic pedal steel guitar, he once again shows the maturity of his writing. And makes us want to dive into this 10-track adventure!

Reach out to Daniel Trakell

Hello hello, music lovers! We're glad to be back to IMC and finally being able to relaunch your favorite "Friday Releases" column. And the first one of the season is really interesting because it only features artists who've never been featured on IMC. Ready for some goosebumps?

_________________

Dylan Perkons - Good News

If you come to IMC, it's probably to disconnect from the flow of negativity that we see on the news. And maybe you arrive here saying in your head "Give me good news!". And you know what? You are not alone! Because that's exactly what Dylan Perkons sings, in his new single "Good News" out today.

We are not dealing with a beginner here, Dylan has already surrounded himself with producers and recording engineers recognized in Canada, and he is currently completing a degree in music technology. Believe it or not, “Good News” is his first release in 4 years. What a shame to have deprived us of this talent for so long! But it's time to catch up!

This song was written before the pandemic. Kind of funny, when you know what happened next. With a warm voice that transports emotions at the speed of light, Dylan quickly creates a cozy atmosphere and you feel so comfortable that you close your eyes and let yourself be carried away into his world. The production is very elaborate, with beautiful vocal harmonies, and small details that you won't hear without good-quality headphones. A real gem, refined to the millimeter by a goldsmith of emotions. A newcomer to IMC that you may see again in our columns.

Reach out to Dylan Perkons

_________________

Keelan X - Fresh Paint

Keelan left his gear aside for (too?) many years in his parent's attic. Luckily for us, in 2021, he got his hands on it again. Having grown up in the 90s with a father who had been using synthesizers since the '70s, this kind of sound definitely speaks to me.

A clever mix of infectious indie-pop and 80s retro vibes make “Fresh Paint” an invitation to dance, but also to reflection. What happens in the relationship when the person in front of you doesn't even know what they want?

A super catchy melody, careful production down to the smallest detail, and voila! You'll find yourself nodding along to this banger that's both contemporary and nostalgic, bringing back old memories.

Reach out to Keelan X

_________________

Meir Levine - All Your Worries

Another newcomer on IMC. And for us, new encounters are important. They generally mark the start of a beautiful and long adventure. Now let's go to Brooklyn, to meet Meir Levine.

“All Your Worries” has just been released, with a very impactful music video where the artist stages himself in fights (literally). Personally, having been bullied at school for more than 10 years (as I explain in the podcast released Wednesday), it was easy for me to relate to this awesome track. Especially with powerful lines like “And honestly, the jokes on me / You never even asked me anything.”

Meir Levine's voice sometimes reminds me of that of IMC Family member Dom Malin. The kind of voice that can convey all emotions with rare intensity. “All Your Worries,” musically, is a time bomb that explodes in the final part. Oh yes, we love this kind of construction, you know that. You came to IMC today to get your dose of thrills, right? This song ticks all the boxes.

With influences like Bon Iver, Meir Levine immerses us in old sounds, and we feel this little nostalgic side in his music. The vocal harmonies are very well crafted, and the mastery of power is quite incredible, whether musically or visually, in the music video. Another favorite to play on repeat.

Reach out to Meir Levine

Good morning, wonderful community! As announced on our socials earlier this week, this "Friday Releases" column is a bit different, this week. We wanted to go a little further and offer you a more complete user experience, by offering you a radio version as a bonus. We invite you to meet later today on our radio station, at 5 pm UK to discover exclusive interviews with some of the featured artists and listen to these little musical gems together. How exciting is that? :) A good way to start November with a time of communion and sharing with our artists, who have a lot to tell you.

_________________

Allison Leah - 24 Years Down

Discovering a new single from Allison Leah is like being a 5-year-old again, in front of the Christmas tree on the morning of December 25th. Each new release is a gift that we take pleasure in unwrapping, except that this time, we were fooled: the gift wrapped us up.

That's it. Wrapped up in an intense emotional wave that managed to make us shed a tear. "24 Years Down" is like a milestone in Allison Leah's life. As if she were pausing, to look behind and contemplate her memories. But also to reflect on her current situation, and move forward with hesitant steps in her future.

My favorite line is definitely the bridge because it perfectly sums up this idea of a timeline: "Some of us are still kids, some of us have kids ... and I'm somewhere in the middle".

Allison grows, evolves, in a world that also changes and goes very fast. Too fast? That's the whole point of this song. Ask yourself the right questions about who you are right now (the person built with past experiences), and who you want to become.

With a heady piano and a very catchy melody, "24 Years Down" is like a transitional song, lost somewhere between adolescence and adulthood.

We were honored to chat with Allison about this fabulous song, and she even recorded an exclusive live version for us. Tune in tonight at 5 pm (UK Time) to IMC's Radio to discover the incredible journey of this talented artist and the story behind this little masterpiece. But it's not over, Allison will be back in a few days on IMC with another surprise for you guys.

_________________

The Satellite Station - Back of my Heart

The Satellite Station is back with one of his most upbeat tracks and to our delight.

"Back of my Heart" is a joyful and nostalgic song, which recalls that feeling we all know in September when summer ends and we have to return to a more "normal" life. If you too still feel the beat at the back of your heart, you'll love this little indie-pop anthem that only Travis Rue has the secret to.

Teenage memories brought up to date, inevitable nostalgia, and a sign that we are all growing up, that's what the song is about. And we love these very cinematic lyrics. You just have to close your eyes to imagine yourself in the car of this friend mentioned in the song.

The electric guitar, quite rare with The Satellite Station, surprises us just before the bridge. A successful bridge (it is however a delicate step in the process of creating a song).

I believe that you are going to feel the beat of this song in the back of your heart for several days, even weeks, because it is highly addictive. As often, with Travis songs.

The artist is evolving, constantly trying new things, new musical universes, and things are going very well every time. Probably one of the most promising artists of his generation, we will never get tired of his catchy melodies and flawless creativity. And Travis will tell us a bit more about this song on the show tonight!

_________________

Vishaal Ganesh - Hamster Wheel

Let's continue the journey with the United Arab Emirates, to discover Vishaal Ganesh's new single. Unfortunately, he won't be with us on the show tonight because we didn't get any answer. But we'll be glad to play his track cause it's awesome!

It's a perfect mix of modern production with a few touches of electronic and organic sounds like the superb acoustic guitar, "Hamster Wheel" ticks all the boxes to become a hit.

The writing is really sharp, mature, and well thought out, and the speech flow is impressive on the verses, and might remind you of a certain… Ed Sheeran. Yes, we can dare this comparison when the quality score is so high.

Like many of us, Vishaal grew up with these somewhat cliché values of "you have to finish your studies, have a job", etc. But if you think about it, in the end, we all end up in the same place. The artist thinks outside the box and definitely offers something different that really stands out.

Like a hybrid musical gem, straddling yesterday and tomorrow, like a breath of fresh air in the independent music industry, "Hamster Wheel" is likely to get you hooked in just a few seconds. And we guarantee you're going to have this song, trotting in the back of your head, all weekend long.

_________________

Grand Alpaca - Wolves / Little Lies

Alexander, aka Grand Alpaca, comes from Norway and had already seduced us only a few weeks ago with "Holding You Back", whose little electric guitar melody is still present in a corner of our mind.

There is a new single out today, "Wolves / Little Lies", which would fit very well in your playlist right next to "Shadows on my Wall" by Luna Keller. You know, those weights from the past that we sometimes carry on our shoulders, and which do not want to disappear. Even if we accelerate, facing the wind, nothing makes them fall.

So we have to continue on our way by doing with it and do our best to move forward, even if it means moving more slowly.

Grand Alpaca still manages to move us, with relatable lyrics, and a vocal performance that does not need artifice, just honest and sincere.

The song is easy to listen to, and although it's over five minutes long, you don't see the time go by, and it just might be your weekend soundtrack. Grand Alpaca's debut album is coming soon, and we'll talk to him about it tonight on the radio version of "Friday Releases".

If I suggest a trip to Galway (Ireland), you will probably tell me "oh, will we hear typical folklore with violins playing loudly?" Well, not really.

It's time to stop the clichés and Cormac Looby does it very well in his new single "Patriot". Paying homage to his country, the Irish artist combines traditional music and modern arrangements, which give a stunning result.

From his debut EP, "Patriot" combines the poetry of words and the poetry of instruments to provide the listener with limitless musical pleasure. We appreciated the simplicity of the melody and the exceptional quality of the vocals, which offer us beautiful flights as we like them.

The violin is present, of course, because Ireland wouldn't be Ireland without it, but it's not the main instrument of the song.

The writing seduced us, line after line, with its delicacy and precision. Cormac Looby uses words with elegance and paints a faithful portrait of his nation, and especially the Irish men. I went to Ireland about fifteen years ago, I could understand that Irish men do not like to show their feelings too much. This is precisely the theme of this song, which the artist himself qualifies as introspective.

Cormac is not unknown to us, because our writer/presenter Luna Keller has already introduced him to you in her show "Why Doesn't Everyone Know These Songs". And it seems that she did well, because we will now keep an eye wide open on the future of this artist, who release after release, continues to amaze us.

Tune in to the radio tonight to hear what he has to say about the song!

Hello beautiful readers! We hope your pumpkins are ready! And between two cuts, don't hesitate to take a few minutes to check out the good indie tracks that are releasing today. Congratulations to the Netherlands, who manage to place three artists out of seven this week in our "Friday Releases". Oops, that sentence sounded very "Eurovision", right? Our trip will also take us to the USA, Italy, and the UK. You don't even need to have hiking boots, just browse this post and you'll be touring the world for free. And if your travel desires are not yet fulfilled, we will meet again tomorrow to discover a wonderful indie-rock EP, and on Sunday to end the month of October with other sumptuous musical jewels. Until then, enjoy your weekend (and don't eat too much candy, we care about you).

Sven Ross - No Man's Land

Are you ready to get goosebumps again? Let's go to the Netherlands to check out Sven Ross' new single, "No Man's Land", released yesterday.

After "Love Out Loud" and "Blue Birthday", this is the third feature for Sven on IMC. And it is obvious that he is improving every time. Each release is always better than the last. His writing gets finer and better over time, and the emotional power of his songs grows stronger and stronger.

The poetry in the lyrics of "No Man's Land" is absolutely beautiful: "She dropped it and caused a forest fire, now his heart is a no man's land". What I love about Sven Ross is his creative genius. Because the meaning of the song could be different, depending on who listens to it. Songs with several senses, which the listener is able to appropriate to give it the meaning they want, are for me the top level of writing.

Indeed, here we could think of a relationship that ends badly, when he sings "she dropped it and caused a forest fire" ... Yes, "it" could be like the final goodbye, like a bomb that the woman dropped in front of her companion.

But ... It could also be seen as a last goodbye, when the woman tells him that she is seriously sick, for example ... It is also a possibility. Especially when Sven sings "And he wonders will she ever come back home?". It happened to me five years ago when my girlfriend got sick. I asked myself several times if she would come back home.

The song is written from the perspective of a third person, the artist worries about the two characters. And I really like this ambiguity. We don't really know what happened to these two characters, but we feel the whole devastating effect of the current situation. It is often said that when an artist releases a song, it no longer belongs to him. It belongs to the public. So it's up to you to make your own interpretation of it.

Either way, Sven Ross still stands out with an absolutely delicious vocal interpretation. The backing vocals on the final part are fantastic. Certain intonations of his voice sometimes remind me of The Satellite Station. They have a lot in common: poetry, strong emotions, and are both capable of giving us huge goosebumps with every release. It's a real pleasure to have Sven Ross on IMC again, and we're sure you'll see him again here.

_________________

Roos Meijer - Why Don't We Give It A Try?

Let's stay in the Netherlands to find Roos Meijer. An artist that you have already heard twice thanks to Joe Pope in the "Artist Pick" column, where songwriters write about songwriters.

She's definitely an artist who masters writing like no other artist. Each of her words, each of her lines is powerful and hits your heart like a spear.

“Why Don't We Give It A Try?”, her new single out today, is no exception to the rule, and Roos Meijer sends a very strong message with gentleness and delicacy. This contrast is quite stark, and if you're not used to this big gap, you might be surprised.

The song begins with wonderful acapella vocal harmonies, then the artist begins to move us very quickly with stunning lines like "do bullets really save lives?".

The melody awakens little by little, almost like a lullaby. But an adult lullaby, which tries to make us open our eyes to our sad way of life: "I wrote the song while living in London and feeling overwhelmed by all the horrible things happening in the world. The song asks the listeners many questions , and hopefully it will create a spark of hope and inspiration for creating a better world."

A song almost in 3D, which draws images in our mind that are quite difficult to watch, but essential to make us aware that we are wearing out in useless fights. Roos Meijer moved us once again.

_________________

Joëtta - Narrative

The Netherlands is definitely a place to be this week! It is a country to which we are very attached because it is full of wonderful artists. Besides, we don't often have girls on IMC (much to our regret), so this is an opportunity not to be missed. Third artist from there today, and second girl, here is the amazing Joëtta.

She is releasing her 4-track debut EP today. And "Narrative" is one of these 4 gems you don't want to miss today. An observation on the fact that things are not moving much and a glimmer of hope because anything is always possible.

With an almost angelic voice, Joëtta succeeds in drawing sumptuous landscapes in your ears, and immediately hooks us into an indie-folk and very acoustic universe that just makes you want to light a fire and chill all day under a blanket.

A formidable writing talent "wish I could love you like I used to" is probably my favorite line. Things are not as fixed as you might think. You still have to take the time to stop and think about it. Should we change or wait for others to change? We let you ponder this question with this ideal soundtrack.

_________________

Abel Hawnt - Alaskan Snow

On November 13, 2020, we introduced you to Abel Hawnt, from the south coast of England. He had bewitched us with his heady "I See Myself", which continues to run in a corner of our minds.

Almost a year later, he is back with a new single out today whose foundations are still as effective as ever: a good indie-folk rhythm with beautiful vocal harmonies, and a true declaration of love for nature and the great outdoors.

I was recently able to reconnect with myself, thanks to a few walks in the forest to admire the beautiful colors of autumn and a few sunsets over the ocean. So here is the perfect soundtrack and this song is likely to accompany your desires of nature with passion.

Small bonus that makes the difference: the flute, an instrument very rarely used in the indie-folk genre and which gives the song that exploratory side that we all need. Take a deep breath, put on your backpack, and go!

Make sure to connect with Abel on socials, it's risk-free and your playlists will only improve.

_________________

Before the Brave - Apparitions

Do you have the feeling that "Before the Brave" rings a bell? It's normal. Since 2012, the band from San Francisco has been very active and keeps releasing little gems. Four boys and one girl who are not lacking in talent!

For its next releases, the band wanted a more worked sound and invested even more in highlighting the instruments. And it works.

Their new single, "Apparitions", is out today, and it's safe to say that it comes right on time for Halloween. With some discreet spooky vibes, "Apparitions" seemed obvious to us.

All the instruments are of exceptional quality and propel us directly into a musical era almost bygone. Often, in an indie-rock song, the instruments are all drowned in the mix. But Before the Brave succeed in the performance of giving them an important place. Whether it is the drums, the electric guitar, the instruments are on the front of the stage. Supported by essential backing vocals and magnificent vocal harmonies, this track is a real bomb.

The bridge is quite unusual. I don't think I've heard a bridge where the main instrument is the bass before. Or, I have to look very far in my memory to find. But this part is really fantastic. A bass guitar. A voice. You had to have the idea and the daring to do it. They got it.

"Apparitions" is a hit on every level, both vocally and lyrically, and will appeal to all fans of light and soaring indie-rock music.

_________________

Gabriele Catoni - Brand New Sun

Have you ever imagined what a mix of Kodaline and Mumford & Sons would look like? This is how the Italian Gabriele Catoni pitched the song to us. And we totally agree with this description!

After the period we have been through, we are all looking for a little warmth, comfort, light, and sun. "Brand New Sun" therefore seems obvious, to bring all this warmth to your playlists.

With incredibly powerful vocals, and lyrics that will make you want to buy a van and get out of the way, Gabriele Catoni's new track is like a catalyst for emotions.

About the song, Gabriele said: "It's probably one of the most upbeat songs I have written so far and I'm very curious to see the feedbacks when it comes out." So please don't hesitate to reach out to him to let him know how fantastic this song is.

The production is worked out down to the smallest detail, and we can't stop singing along on our side.

It's up to you to believe it or not, but Gabriele has spent a decade in a metalcore band. The conversion seems to have been beneficial, as "Brand New Sun" is one of the best songs we've heard this year.

_________________

Pacific - Dream of Mine

Fancy a stroll in Manchester? Let's go there to meet Pacific, a 4-piece band that blew our ears off with their new track "Dream of Mine".

It's been so long since we've had a good indie-rock sound on IMC. I would say months. This genre becomes more and more complicated to maintain on our platform because many artists tend to transform it into electro-pop or other more trendy genres.

Pacific knew how to keep this rock identity to the tips of their nails, and from the first seconds of "Dream of Mine", we are immediately hooked by the powerful bass and the frenzied rhythm. My 20 years of radio experience has taught me that if a catchy chorus comes before the first-minute mark, the song has all the potential to become a hit. This is the case for this masterpiece.

Incredible energy, sharp writing, flawless quality, and dang ... we find ourselves shaking our heads and singing along to this crazy chorus.

No, you are not dreaming, this song about a dream is electrifying you as if you had put your fingers in a socket. An incredible electric current invades your whole body and makes you want to throw everything out the window.

The musical maturity of this band is ripe. And the fact that their EP "You Don’t Know", which will be released next Friday, is their debut EP, is simply unbelievable. I had a hard time believing this to be a debut EP.

In short, you will understand, we fell in love with these guys, and you'd better watch them closely because you will be hearing more about them in the future.

_________________

Genesis Ritchot - If You Cared

I believe it was thanks to Ben Greenberg that we came to discover Canadian Genesis Ritchot. And I sincerely believe that it's one of our most beautiful discoveries of this year. His unique voice, very comfortable even in the highest notes, always manages to give us goosebumps. But his voice is not the only one responsible. We have to admit that Genesis has a knack for creating wonderful melodies, and each time the result is even more impressive than the last time. That's a very relatable song, as the artists told us: "it's an indie-folk song about an old friend taking you for granted. We can all relate to that and I needed to express my feelings through these lyrics." The artist also evokes an 80s side, which is not unpleasant. What impressed me the most is the turning point the song takes during the bridge. As we often say on IMC, the bridge is the most delicate part of a song, and it is often very challenging for artists. Here, the exercise is perfectly successful. Genesis superimposes the vocals with disconcerting ease, until producing the effect of a powerful chorus. So many elements mastered to perfection, which makes that Genesis Ritchot is a musician on whom you can count to make you vibrate with each release.

It's been almost a year since we introduced you to Francis Moon, with "Here We Are Now", in November 2020. Here he is back, with a new single a little more folky but still delicious to listen to! The Swedish artist never ceases to amaze us with the enormous quality of his productions. He is a DIY artist who touches everything. We particularly appreciate these travel vlogs on YouTube. But music remains his favorite field, and he proves it once again with this new track. Very airy and luminous, "Let You Go", released today by our friends at alexrainbirdrecords, was born after a radical change: "The song came to life after moving to a new country, and talks about expectations, miscommunication, and disappointment that forces you to let something go and start over from scratch." Like a stick of dynamite, this song is a real motivator and can only trigger in you the desire to enjoy life. Travel. Love. Share. This song will accompany all your dreams, which may come true more easily than you think.

We introduced you to Sonny Casey, when she released her previous single "A Saving Grace" on August 20th. And already, at that time, we had fallen in love with this Irish artist. And especially with his unique voice. Because in 2021, at a time when all the female voices sound the same when you turn on the radio, Sonny is an exception. It's like Adele, for example. When you hear Adele on the radio, even though it's a new song you've never heard before, you are able to identify her easily: “Oh, it's Adele!”. Because Adele's voice is unique. When it comes to Sonny Casey, it's exactly the same. Her voice is recognizable among thousands. Even if her voice alone would be enough to give me goosebumps, I must admit that I was totally spellbound by her incredible lyrics. Each line gives chills. "Does she make you happy? It's all I want you to be. Does she make you feel like a child again? Does she make you feel free?". You got it, her new single "A Thousand Setting Suns", released today, explores the contradictory feelings that we can have when our ex is with someone else. With all the necessary distance, but also a lot of lucidity and maturity, Sonny Casey raised our arm hair vertically from the first listen. The song ends with an acapella part, which will allow you to realize how the unique voice of this little piece of woman can convey immense emotions. Yes, we are not afraid to say it: Sonny Casey is our best discovery this year. And there is no doubt that we will talk about her again in our recap of the year in January.

Let's go to Edmonton (Canada), to meet Rachel Gleddie. When Rachel came to us, she wrote "my motivation is to create music that has an emotional impact on the listener". And we can say that it's a perfect match since our concept is essentially based on strong emotions and goosebumps. These emotions, we felt them from the start of "Not Always Enough", his new single released today. As soon as she starts singing, you feel a comfortable warmth flooding your whole body. This voice is absolutely fabulous, like coming from beyond. It envelops you and does not let go of you. Accompanied by powerful backing vocals and cleverly dosed reverb, Rachel distills words like a seed sower. She sows the words on her score and the magic of flawless production does the rest. We really liked the contrast between the darkness of the lyrics, which are a little sad, since they evoke a breakup and the almost divine light of the last chorus. Rachel takes us on an almost heavenly journey, where everything becomes light. There you have it! We feel as light as a feather after listening to this little gem, and we tell ourselves that after all, sadness is a feeling like any other: it doesn't last forever.

Billy Libby is an incredible, multi-talented musician who has delighted us the last few days and honored us to be able to listen to his new EP "Retirement Part One" before it comes out. A collection of five songs, each with its own musical and poetic universe, and which give consistency to the whole. We recently lost one of our dearest fans, Lyca, and she loved wolves. Our fellow writer and singer-songwriter Luna also organized a raid train on Twitch to raise funds for a Wolf Sanctuary, and to honor Lyca's memory. Suffice to say that wolves have been part of my daily life for a few days and that they bring me back to good memories with our missing friend. It is under the name of Fort Gorgeous, which is only one of his many musical projects (he's also a member of the band The Weird Years), that Billy Libby delivers to the world today a real gem. You know that at IMC we like strong emotions, and "Wolf" is exactly the track that reflects this passion for goosebumps. We feel wrapped in cotton when listening to this little wonder. And the good news is that the entire EP exudes that magic, both through the poetry of the lyrics and the incredible production work. Please, don't just use your phone speaker, don't hesitate to use real headphones to feel all the emotions of this incredible EP, and above all, to perceive all the details of each track. You will then realize that Fort Gorgeous has done a silversmith's job. Indeed, multiple elements give this EP an almost surreal side, whose magic is revealed little by little, second after second.

What we love most about IMC are human relationships. And Aaron James is one of those accessible artists with who you can honestly discuss music with. His EP "Golden Haze" is out today, and notably contains "Beautiful", a song with the appropriate title. Very delicate, you could say that this song alone sums up the concept of the EP. Poetry, gentleness, and beauty. Feel free to listen to the entire EP, so you can appreciate the brightness of Aaron's songs. A coherent set of 5 little gems, which can be listened to without any weariness. His writing is passionate and he has this extraordinary power to create light melodies that stay in mind. Coming from Australia, Aaron tried his hand at several musical genres but it seems that with this EP, he has finally found his musical identity and the genre in which he is most comfortable. We know you come to IMC for the quality, and he's one of those artists who give a lot. Quality is the keyword of this magical EP, where "Beautiful" meets the sumptuous "Feel Good" and "Change In Me" (over 45K streams in total), and the two unreleased songs "Once In A Lifetime" and " Heavens Playground ". It was impossible for us to choose a favorite because the five songs form an inseparable? and perfectly coherent and logical whole. Follow this bearded artist closely, he will take you to sumptuous landscapes, both through his social media and his songs. To conclude, we would say that "Golden Haze" is gold.

Lots of artists making their comeback on IMC after a long time without appearing here. We met The Graes in December 2020 when they released the fabulous “Reagan's Song”. Completely different, and much more pop, their new single "Figure It Out" has that kind of super catchy chorus that makes you want to take the song everywhere with you to put you in a good mood. Coming from Wilmington, NC, CJ, and Cassie are some of the cutest bands we've come across on our musical journey. Their music is a cure for gloom and we all need a boost of energy after everything we've been through. This new single is a nod to the crushes you can have when you are young. But I think we can extend the concept to all ages. About the song, the band said: "Remember high school when you'd go to the roller skating rink with your friends and your crush would be there? Imagine this song playing as you found the confidence to go and talk to them and tell them how you feel. " "Figure It Out" is their most upbeat single so far, and could open many more doors for them. There is in this song all the potential to make it a hit. We promise you'll have it in your head for the whole weekend. The addictive power of this song with delicious vocal harmonies is quite strong. We will have warned you!

Niko will have a talk today (5.20 pm UK Time) to tell you about the extraordinary powers of the IG algorithm. It's still time to grab your ticket here. And it's not a joke, this algorithm temporarily blocked our account last night :D Well, enough about us! Tell us about you? How was your week? Today is like a big-bang day in the music industry cause both Coldplay and Adele are releasing new albums. But they don't really need support, to be honest. Indie artists, on the contrary, always need your support to keep their passion going.

Jeffrey James - Sober

Let's start the trip in Nashville to find another amazing artist in this talented anthill.

Jeffrey James' first project dates back to 2016, with his Walls EP. And he's come a long way since then, racking up millions of streams on his Spotify. Yes, you read that right millions.

We already told you about him in 2020 when he released "Downtown".

His new EP is out today and is titled "Songs I Found in the Year I Lost." The title says it all. The artist used all the free time he had during the pandemic and created wonders through these remote sessions with Nashville-based CMA-nominated songwriter Cleve Wilson and London-based songwriter/producer Dan Weller. "Sober" is the focus track of the EP and reminds us of the talent and creativity of some artists already seen on IMC like James Goodwin or Hugo Valentine.

A very, very high level of quality, with undeniable writing talent, allows him to give us goosebumps after only a few lines. A piano-driven song that alternates verses where doubts collide, and luminous choruses full of hope.

The word "catchy" is often used to define a melody. We could go further by saying that the chorus of "Sober" is definitely addicting. Hard to get it out of your mind once it gets in there.

A real success that allows us to affirm that we will see Jeffrey James again on IMC.

_________________

Jason Piquette - Homeless

When Jason Piquette sent us his new single and we clicked on "play" the first time, we knew we were going to have him featured on IMC, in less than 3 seconds. I think 3 seconds is the all-time high. We have never had such an immediate crush.

And the crush was confirmed, second after second, minute after minute.

Jason Piquette is like an angel descended from heaven, with an absolutely delicious voice. The voice of a friend whispering pretty words in your ear, around a campfire. And when his voice goes high, we just get goosebumps.

First sentence, first goosebumps: "Without you around, I'm homeless". An acoustic guitar, then magnificent backing vocals, then a bass, then discreet percussions ... The song is built gradually and quite quickly.

And the story of this song is pretty amazing, as Jason said: "This one came out when I realized I'd be living in my car for a bit. I'm finding that home is found in giving and receiving love, especially in seasons of displacement. "

It's true. Love connects human beings. And the music brings them even closer. And it seems that this song has magical power. Like a magnet. We quickly become addicted, but that's okay. One of our favorite songs this year.

_________________

The Collection - Get Lost

We can say that the band "The Collection" is a band well anchored in music since if you browse their Spotify, you will be able to find releases in 2011 ... Yes, ten years of jewels compiled at the same place.

So there is no need to tell you that this bunch of six happy buddies is not just starting out, as they already amassed several million streams and now have over 200K monthly listeners.

And there is a reason for that: the quality of their work. Each track is unique in its genre and the band has a very strong musical identity. You know, kinda like when you hear Imagine Dragons on the radio. You are able to identify them right away: "ah, that's Imagine Dragons". Same here. And in an age where everything is alike, knowing how to differentiate yourself is super important.

"GET LOST" is their third independently-released single this year. The lyrics tell the story of someone who has to get out of their comfort zone in order to find their true self. The upbeat melody and catchy tempo will make you feel like there's always a way to step out of your comfort zone and make things better for yourself.

With extremely high-quality production and writing that borders on perfection, The Collection brings us an almost idyllic new single, and one that just might become your new favorite.

If you also think "I am too big, the room is too small", you will appreciate the breath of fresh air brought by this song, which despite a writing theme dealing with our struggles, is like a ray of light in a dark forest.

_________________

Sabrina Carmen - Shh I Won't Tell

Do you have any secrets? Here is our angel returned from heaven ... with secrets. Well, in reality, not from heaven but almost: Long Beach, California! Or maybe from Mars? Yes, in case you didn't know, Sabrina recorded some vocals for Thirty Seconds to Mars on their album “LOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS”.

In August, Sabrina Carmen dazzled us with the beauty of her single "Dreaming Wide Awake". She is back with a new track, which goes in a completely opposite direction, but always with so much finesse and talent.

"Shh I Won't Tell" is a timely song, perfect for Halloween. It's been co-written with Jamie Miller, Rebecca McBride, Rebekah Wilbur, Matt Richert (producer)In a very cinematic atmosphere, Sabrina enchants us, like a beneficent witch. Yes, a pretty and kind witch. The chorus of this new song made us like an electric shock.

It was exactly for this kind of goosebump and thrill that I created IMC a few years ago. It's the kind of song we all hope to hear one day.

The writing follows the song's atmosphere, quite dark, and contrasts with Sabrina's voice on the chorus (light and bright). I still wonder how she manages to reach such high notes.

We all have our secrets. Whether it is secrets between spouses, between friends, or more often, family secrets. I would say the last option is the one I relate to the most. Family secrets are absolutely disastrous. We have all been through this kind of situation, sometimes torn between having to keep or reveal a secret that is too heavy to bear. So the song has the power to speak to a lot of people.

About the song, Sabrina said that it "explores the role that “little lies,” fragmented truths, and secrets play in our relationships with others, and the person we always have to face: ourselves. In this song, we dance with secrets, attempt to find answers, and perhaps are haunted with even more questions".

In addition to being a human being endowed with extraordinary generosity, Sabrina Carmen is one of the artists with whom we never get tired of chatting. You can write her a DM and she will answer in the most authentic way. If you do so, don't hesitate to remind her how amazing her music is.

Get out your pumpkins, we've got the soundtrack!

We have to stay in Los Angeles if we want to have a chance to meet BAYWUD there. We thought he gave us the catchiest melody of the year with "All Together Now" released in early 2021. His new single "Last Call", a collab with Dvniel, is out today. And once again, the artist has set the bar high. Very very high.

While we were talking about heaven with Sabrina Carmen (read above), a reference to heaven is present in the chorus of this huge indie-pop anthem. Perfect transition!

The artist, an LGBTQ community member, grew up in Texas, surrounded by his father's vinyl records, and was rocked by The Beatles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Dylan, or Fleetwood Mac. It is therefore easy to understand that having been immersed in a very high-quality musical environment, the music offered by BAYWUD follows the same path. Moreover, like the few names we have just mentioned, his music has already toured the radio world, from the Netherlands to Canada, and from the US to Australia. At IMC, we all still have in mind the incredibly unifying chorus of "All Together Now".

The artist does it again with Dvniel, another artist from L.A. who already has a great career to his credit. If you browse his Spotify, you will probably fall for "Bad Habits". No, it's not an Ed Sheeran cover, but an incredibly cinematic and emotionally powerful original.

About the song, Dvniel said, "we dug deep on this one and wanted to write a song from both of our personal experiences with addiction, loss, hopelessness and struggle while finding a commonality in our stories."

And indeed, the two artists have common experiences and a common past, as BAYWYD confides: "Both Dvniel and I have similar stories of drug addiction, loss, and pain, which we express in each verse. I think ultimately, we wrote a song about forgiveness and hope. Forgiveness to yourself and from all of those you've hurt in your life because of your mistakes".

When two wonderful musicians meet, the shock is as incredible as the big bang. Filled with hope, "Last Call" is a hymn to change, and allows us all to give ourselves one last chance. With a still very powerful chorus and divine vocal harmonies, the duo offers us the goosebumps we were hoping for. Alternating beautiful verses carried by a delicate piano and more punchy choruses, "Last Call" is the kind of song that we all need on our playlist, whether for good days or bad. Whatever the weather, whatever your mood, this track will bring you something.

If we want to sum this song up in one line: Forgive yourself for your mistakes, shout them out loud, even if no one is listening.

Welcome back to IMC guys! We're glad to see you there! We hope you're ready to enjoy your weekend! Here's a little selection of amazing tracks released today. And, as we were complaining about not having enough girls a few weeks ago, we could say that this post is really... girly, isn't it?! Let's dive into those fantastic releases!

_________________

Rosalie - There Used To Be Four

Rosalie's story is pretty amazing: she was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition, and totally lost her voice. After a few years of voice therapy, fortunately it was back. What a force of nature! Congratulations, Rosalie. You did well to hang on and fight, it was worth it!

She was living in LA, and decided to move to Nashville. Rosalie's new single, "There Used To Be Four", is out today. And the least we can say is that Rosalie touched us. As Ryan Nealon did, when he released the music video for "Not Coming Home", a tribute song to his mom who left too early. For Rosalie, the missing piece of the puzzle is her daddy:

"I think grief is the trickiest emotion. After losing someone you love, you think that you are finally doing ok. But then, out of nowhere, it bursts out of you like a waterfall. Like a downpour, you didn't see coming.

I lost my dad over five years ago now, and on the day that I wrote There Used To Be Four, I don't think I set out to write about him. I actually don't remember a lot about the write if I’m being honest. I think that's partly because this is a song that wanted to be written. It's like it wrote to me. It's like the grief had something to say."

Punctuated with vocal memories, the song is extremely poignant and moving. Carried by the incredible voice of Rosalie, which sometimes recalls that of Jacqueline Loor. They have that little spark in common, in their voices. Her voice alone is enough to convey countless emotions. But I admit that the audio samples that she included play a prominent role in the emotions and could bring you some tears.

"After spending six months alone, I spent six months quarantining back home with my family. I used that time to comb through about 40 hours of my dad’s home video footage - barely scratching the surface - to pull audio samples that I could incorporate."

Creative, poetic, and undeniably strong, Rosalie got naked in this new single, confiding her deepest and truest feelings. Do not look for a great vocal surge, or demonstration, Rosalie has totally respected the sobriety of the writing theme and her voice follows the natural sweetness of the melody, moving and absolutely magnificent.

_________________

Ansley Rushing - Over It

Let's stay in Nashville, to meet Ansley Rushing. She's originally from Georgia, just like our writer Joe Pope, and sue were used to play shows in Atlanta and Athens for years before relocating to Tennessee.

"Over It" is, hard to believe, his debut single. I said hard to believe because Ansley's vocal fluency and very precise handwriting made me feel like she's been doing this her whole life.

With wonderfully layered violins, a sweet ukulele, and an exceptional vocal presence, the singer offers us a light song, full of delicacy and imagination: "You hold me like you got nowhere to go".

With sublime backing vocals on the chorus, and even a discreet banjo in the background, Ansley Rushing draws a very worked musical universe, in the smallest detail, and despite the fact that the song seems simple, the production is much more complex than what you might think.

A lot of elements and work were necessary to obtain this result, and it can be clearly heard.

I said the song was full of lightness. So light that when you listen to it with good quality headphones, it's like you've climbed on a cloud. Without wanting to go back down.

Thank you Ansley for a nice trip, full of reverie and light, despite the melancholy and sadness of the lyrics.

_________________

Alex Kennedy - A Different Song

Maybe you will think "oh no, another love song". And that's exactly what Alex Kennedy thinks when he turns on the radio. So he wanted to do things a little differently.

It's a love song that talks about ... love songs. A pretty original writing theme, I think that after more than 1300 songs featured on IMC over years, we had never had this situation before.

I loved the way Alex introduced himself: "as if John Mayer got into a bar fight with Maroon 5 and Norah Jones broke it up". It's not false.

But unlike formatted songs, Alex Kennedy writes as he thinks. And he thinks with his heart before his brain. He has no filter and the emotions are raw. Without artifice. This is why the result you hear today in his new single "A Different Song" is so impressive. The writing is absolutely amazing and every word has its place. My favorite line is probably "I love you more than words could ever say".

Professional in every way, the production quality is truly amazing, as well as the catchy melody, and the artist also made a magnificent music video in the woods, which you can watch below.

Complete artist, Alex Kennedy seduced us, and it is not impossible that you will see him again on IMC because this genius has exactly everything we love.

It's been 4 years now that we discovered Edward & Graham, a 4-piece band based in Chicago.

Founded by Johnny Edward and Evan Graham in 2016, the band grew to welcome multi-instrumentalist Keith Dunn and drummer Rob Bordignon.

It is always interesting for me to witness the artistic progression of a musician or a band, and I can clearly tell you that Edward & Graham have evolved incredibly well!

Their new single "The Burden" comes out today, and mixes organic instruments like acoustic guitar, with slightly more electronic production elements. And the result is brilliant.

The vocal harmonies, present from the first minute, amazed us with their quality and warmth.

About the track, the band said: "It deals with confronting your own shortcomings in love and celebrates self-awareness that too often gets lost."

With quite melancholic lyrics, the contrast with the playful and colorful melody of the chorus is striking. But the quality is there. At a very high level!

The first track from their upcoming EP ends with a piano solo, delicately enhanced by the crackling of a vinyl record.

A band that will have to be watched closely, because they were already promising four years ago. They are now on the launching pad for a great career.

_________________

Holly Havens - Love Like This

We met Holly Havens in 2019, at a time when IMC was still small and we still wrote in French. I believe that in 2019 we would never have believed that if we just changed the language, we would be read in 142 countries ... and we still find it hard to believe in 2021!

Holly Havens is an inspiring artist, based in West-Michigan. Inspiring, because each of her songs is an introspective journey, deep in her heart. Because Holly reveals her feelings like no one else. And with, it must be admitted, disconcerting ease.

Her vocal abilities are truly impressive, and Holly has that kind of voice that can trigger shivers down your spine in under three seconds.

Her new single is out today, called "Love Like This", and immediately seduced us with its incomparable writing quality. Holly has tried her hand at heavier productions, like with her songs "Caught Up" or "Breakthrough" (absolutely to listen to, by the way), but we can say that she is really at ease in the "piano-voice" exercise.

About the song, the artist explains: "I wrote this song to give the listener a deeper insight into me as a person and the way that I love. Though I am very independent and free-spirited, I take my commitments seriously and love whole-heartedly. "

A real emotional gem, which will appeal to lovers of pretty voices, who do not overdo it, and who know how to dose emotions with millimeter precision.

Welcome to October! As the leaves keep falling from the trees, so do the amazing songs. Another beautiful musical journey today, which we are pleased to offer you. No need for a health pass or a vaccine to savor this world tour of sound sensations, meeting artists with varied musical universes but all with one huge common point: exceptional quality. And at the end of this column, we'll welcome a new IMC Family member! Our beautiful journey starts with Saint Djuni's incredible release!

_________________

Saint Djuni - Human

If you like the happy vibes of Gorillaz or Imagine Dragons, with a huge production that rocks, you will fall in love with the new single from the duo Saint Djuni. Besides, I just realized when finishing this sentence, that they had mentioned Gorillaz in their "similar artists". So I was not mistaken.

Having already made an appearance on our Spotify playlist with "Good To Be Home" earlier this year, the remote band (Curaçao & Sweden) is back with a track that could stick to your mind for hours, even days or weeks. And thus become your new favorite.

Do not be too fooled by the first verse which is quite calm, you will feel your heart take off just before the first-minute mark, with a colorful chorus, comprising incredibly high but controlled notes and beautiful backing vocals which bring a touch of the exotic.

Like a trip around the world in 3 minutes, Saint Djuni balances their multiple influences right in the face for a breathtaking result, and we can even say brilliant. I'm still speechless. We have to warn: you are going to sing along.

_________________

The Satellite Station - Trouble

After Thomas LaVine yesterday, let's meet another artist from the IMC Family!

"Trouble" is the new single from The Satellite Station, released today on alexrainbirdrecords. If you've been following our posts over the past few weeks, you might have checked out his previous single "Brighter Side", released on September 10th. And you too may find the contrast between the two singles quite striking!

Much quieter, on a much slower tempo, "Trouble" is probably the smoothest song Travis has ever released. And probably one of our favorites, for sure!

If you don't feel comfortable with the past, maybe you should focus on the present and the people you love? This is the message behind this pretty ballad, enhanced by a mixture of organic instruments (acoustic guitar and piano) and also an electric guitar, which is rarer for The Satellite Station. Travis works hard, tirelessly, on his songs, and when he shows up at the door of the Courtstreet Recording studio, the magic operates, thanks to the complicity of Michael, his faithful friend and producer (who also works with Zack Fletcher, whose we spoke to you last Sunday).

The vocal performance on "Trouble" is undoubtedly the most beautiful Travis has given us so far, every note contains emotion, and the result is quite stunning. If you don't feel any goosebumps while listening to this song, then I can retire early.

_________________

Arliston - Centre

At Indie Music Center, we never featured a song called "Centre". It is done. We have our hymn.

It is in London that you will have the best chance to meet the band Arliston, who's releasing a new single today.

A very powerful track, sometimes cinematic, somewhat reminiscent of the Manchester Hurts duo. The same power, the same energy, and a very catchy melody that stays in mind.

The vocal performance is quite impressive here, with varying intensity, and mastered to perfection. Bands with a strong vocal identity are quite rare these days, and Arliston, like Imagine Dragons, have succeeded in creating both a vocal identity and a musical universe of their own.

"Center" is magnificent, with contrasts between the darkness of the atmosphere and the luminosity of the vocals. But the band did not stop at the auditory aspect. They also accompanied the song with an incredible music video, full of poetry and emotion, which perfectly matches the universe of the song. Like a lyric video, the lyrics are perfectly arranged with a few clever nods to the text.

Such a high level of quality is rather surprising, and their Spotify is full of nuggets, each better than the next. A promising band to watch closely.

_________________

Hello Darling - From Me To You

Now let's go to Nashville (yes, we know, as often), to meet a wonderful duo: Grace Russell and Patrick Armould, who make music under the name Hello Darling.

And the least we can say is that they are aptly named. With a warm and welcoming musical universe, it was hard to resist the catchy chorus of their new single "From Me To You".

The song "talks about living your entire life looking for something that seems so easy to reach but at the same time is so hard to reach."

After the eighteen months that we have just gone through, we must admit that we can be a little lost, sometimes.

But Hello Darling is forging a straight road to success, with their incredible vocal harmonies and flawless writing.

We appreciated the differences of power and intensity of this very folky piece, which includes instruments that we love (acoustic guitar and piano, but not only).

As has often been said on IMC, the bridge is always the most delicate part of a song. For artists, it's all or nothing. Some fear this part which requires creativity. And others are very comfortable in this challenge, like Hello Darling. The bridge is probably the most impressive part of the song.

"From Me To You" is a fairly long track, since it is nearly five minutes long. But honestly, we don't see the time passing. It's like she's only been doing two minutes. We even have a feeling of "too short", but we take pleasure in listening again and again.

_________________

Jenny Kern - Alone

We're ending our trip to Brooklyn to make a big announcement. If you are loyal to IMC, you will have noticed that this is Jenny Kern's 5th feature. You will therefore have understood that she is joining the IMC Family today! Welcome, Jenny!

Jenny is an artist that we introduced to you in 2019 and who, since then, has continued to progress and amaze us with her releases. Each song is always better than the last, and, like her friend Travis (The Satellite Station), you always wonder how she does it.

It is true that her wonderful voice may have a lot to do with it. Because this unique and warm voice, even in the darkest atmospheres, manages to convey intense emotions. Even the smallest emotion passes, through magnificent nuances and differences of intensity. Jenny is what we call a genius of art.

"Alone" is the latest single from her "I Never Thought That You Were Listening" EP, out today (we love the title, by the way!), and possibly the most emotional song she has ever released to date, as she told us:

"It's a song I wrote when I was in the deepest spiral of being alone. I felt like no one was listening. With everything going on in the world over the last two years, “Alone” feels like a ritual. It’s probably one of the darkest but most honest songs I’ve written. It came from a place of hopelessness. In this song, I’m calling out for answers into an empty, lonely void, both in darkness and light, and receiving nothing back. While it’s sad, it’s really me on a path of self-discovery and searching for meaning in a dark and unforgiving world."

The final part, combining several violins, and discreet backing vocals that gain in intensity, is incredibly beautiful. And Jenny still achieves this feat: to give us goosebumps.

We will never get tired of her natural talent for songwriting. Some artists will tell you that there is no such thing as talent: it's just practice. It's up to you to make up your own mind. But on our side, we are convinced that the musical adventure of Jenny Kern is only at its beginning, and its rise will be vertiginous. And we are delighted to welcome this new queen of emotions to the IMC Family.

_________________

Written by Niko. All songs added to our "Indie Music" playlist on Spotify.

We had our first crush for All Faces with "Here I Am" thanks to Alex and Beth, our friends at alexrainbirdmusic. All Faces is a French duo based in London. Besides, "Here I Am" is still playing on our radio station every day. So, when they announced on their Instagram the imminent arrival of a new single, I couldn't help but go and annoy them for an early listen. And I did not regret it. Because I have been knowing them since their debut in 2018, and I know that this magical duo is always top quality. And I admit that I was dazzled by the beauty of "Grace", their new single released today. "Grace" combines the advantages of modern production with perfectly mastered writing. Daphne takes control of the verses, with a voice sounding straight out of Heaven, then joined by Ben on the chorus. And that's what makes All Faces special. Their powerful and moving choruses! The first time I heard the chorus of "Grace", I had the same feeling as when I hear the choruses of Kodaline, my favorite band. Enormous emotional power that triggers the thrill in your whole body. Maybe it's no coincidence that Kodaline has a song called "Saving Grace" ... All Faces, could be summed up as follows: a sensitivity and a fragility enhanced by power. Ben and Daphne are amazing human beings, very kind, and easy to communicate with, since for once, and this is rare, we are allowed to speak to our artists in French. But music is a universal language and it is obvious that these two geniuses have already crossed borders for a long time. The whole world was waiting for them. Here they are! Perhaps the next artists that France will finally succeed in exporting, after Phoenix or Daft Punk.

In July, you were introduced to the incredible voice of Chris Ho with his single "Borrowed Books". Here he is back with a new single coming out today. Much brighter and more cheerful, "Everything is Endlessness" is simply an invitation to smile. With convincing lyrics and a flawless vocal performance, Chris Ho offers us a punchy chorus, with magnificent backing vocals and brass that have their place in this little gem. It is often said that bridge is the riskiest part of a song, and it is indeed bridge that scares artists the most. Chris proves to us in this song that it can sometimes be the opposite. The bridge is here an explosion of words, where the artist lets himself go and the exercise is absolutely successful. If you've been running out of positive vibes lately, Chris is here to get you some: "Life can feel both excruciatingly endless and mundane at times, but at the same time so incredibly short and fleeting. We'll probably never know the true nature of reality, and it seems like the deeper we look into it, the more strange and ambiguous it gets. All you can really do is move along, push past your existential woes, get lost in those moments of joy, and, if you're really desperate, just go ahead and embrace those 'dance like nobody's watching' cliches." So what if we were content with what we got? By taking advantage of every wonder the world can offer us. It's true, it sounds easy to say. But with such a soundtrack, we can't resist: we turn up the volume, we close our eyes, and we spin on ourselves. Exactly like there's nobody watching.

It had been a long time since we had seen a little indie-rock gem on IMC. I know, I say that every time, but it's true, good tracks in this genre are rare and I regret it. Fortunately, Kevin Campbell & The Wandering come to contradict me with their new release "Lost The World", out today. As Kevin said, "the song itself is about losing someone that is important to you and learning to move on and live life without them." With a unique and very relaxing electric guitar sound, the poetry of the lyrics and the almost divine melody instantly wowed us. The "oh oh" of the chorus reminded me of some epic pieces of other talented musicians, like Kodaline, or even Coldplay. The production is excellent, signed Will Chapman of the band Colony House, who also play drums on this gem. "I've gained a lot but you know I've lost the world, I'm just a man who loved a girl" is the main line of the chorus and it's punchy enough to trigger the thrill. Although reminiscent of a certain Tom DeLonge, sometimes the voice is unique and gives the track a light and soaring atmosphere, and you quickly get hooked from the first listen. The addictive side is quite strong, which is a pretty good sign. We can't wait to hear the rest of this wonderful musical project. Don't hesitate to go to their Spotify. The previous single "Running Out" and the excellent cover of "Bitter Sweet Symphony" by The Verve will convince the skeptics.

Let's go to Indianapolis to explore a completely different musical genre. And I would even say it's a first time on IMC. It's true, it's not a genre that we cover very often, but I must admit that Katherine Nagy bewitched us in less than ten seconds. The leaping melody of "Magnolia Tree" and its light side captivated us. A skillful blend of classical instruments like the piano, organ, or upright bass, with light and catchy lyrics, this song is an invitation to leave your chair and dance all night. And it is very difficult to resist. Try it, you will see. It is often said on IMC that the indie music world is small. Indeed, Katherine works with Marina Bennett, and also knows Jacqueline Loor and Martina Armour. The chain continues! And we are delighted because women are only 12% of independent artists. We always try to respect parity but it is not always easy because the women are discreet in this environment. Much too discreet. Katherine wanted this happy new single: "This is a toe-tapping, hands-clapping uplifting song meant to bring smiles to the listener's face. This song is about finding love underneath a beautiful Magnolia Tree." Who could refuse this proposal? It's done with so much elegance and delicacy that you can only stomp your feet and clap your hands and start singing along. Well done, Katherine!

For once, women dominate these Friday Releases. And that's perfect! Let's leave Indiana for Massachusetts, but keep clapping your hands, to meet Jacquie Clay, in a little more pop atmosphere, with lots of light and warmth, in her new single "Lighter Now". We just told you that the indie music world is a small world. Another proof: Jacquie co-wrote the song with ... Marina Bennett. Yes, Marina again. We'll have to send Marina a little gift because that's a lot of artists! Jacquie Clay grew up with music in her veins, and you can hear it. Having had a few health issues that kept her from playing the piano for a while, Jacquie is now back, stronger than ever, and her love of music shines through this song. With magnificent backing vocals and certain vocal ease, Jacquie invites us to finally enjoy the present moment, and we all need this breath of fresh air after these tough 18 months: "feel the sunrise, your hand in mine, finally I'm free, I'm safe ". This is definitely my favorite line of this joyful anthem that you will want to play on repeat. If you are like me, of a little curious nature, you will be tempted to go for a ride on her Spotify to take advantage of the two previous releases, which are also really worth it. Jacquie Clay is a ray of sunshine, able to put a smile on your face in an instant, and this new single "Lighter Now" will envelop you like cotton to make you feel safe. She's a flower that begs to bloom. So don't hesitate to show her some love on her socials, she deserves it. Again, you may kill the replay button.

This is already the third feature for Sunflower Summit, a fantastic artist that we discovered thanks to her collab with Jacqueline Loor (yes, again, small indie world haha) on "Carry Through". When I heard the chorus of her new single "Become Undone", released today, I fell in love immediately. I don't know why, but when I closed my eyes I imagined some kind of druid brewing a magic potion to bewitch me. And this chorus, which rises and rises like a staircase to audio pleasure, completely hooked me. Super catchy, it's the kind of chorus that crawls through your head for hours. If you feel like you are changing, that's okay. The pandemic has profoundly changed all of us, and we see everything in a different way. And this transition can be both beneficial and frightening. Either way, this song explores the questions that can be asked during such a transformation. Even evoking the transformation of the chameleon in the line "My skin is peeling", the singer plays with contrasts and helps us to project ourselves into her universe with well-made metaphors. The artist still has family in La Paz Baja California Sur, Mexico, where she travels regularly. We now understand better these Latin inspirations and the sun that manages to break through even in her darkest songs. The Chicago-based artist and theater fan, who now has her home studio and has learned production, is preparing an album called "In his Moment" which is set to be released on May 27, 2022. "Become Undone 'is the first single and we can already tell you that if all the songs are so good, we are in a hurry to be in May. To have another summer enjoying the songs of Sunflower Summit on a hammock with a good guava juice. Maria (her real name) is a blend of positive energy and sunshine, which will help you get through the winter with warm and delicious melodies.
