Allison Leah is probably one of the first artists we introduced to you in the current blog format. It was in June 2018 and at that time we featured her in a column called "Rising Stars" on the occasion of the release of her "Fly Home" EP. It was already impossible for us at the time to choose a favorite track because everything that Allison produces is incredible.
What we love about Allison, based in Nashville, is that she takes all the time to work hard on her music. Her latest release "We Can Still Sing" (a cry for hope during the pandemic) was released 14 months ago! So we were impatiently waiting for new material from her and it was worth the wait. Because the new single coming out today, "what I'm missing", is no exception. Once again, the artist gets naked in a song and confides her doubts and fears. Today's world revolves a lot around judgment and how you look (whether on social media or in real life). Our decisions and opinions sometimes convey the opposite of what we really think because people don't dig too deep to know our true nature. Simple example: most people who find Allison or any other pretty girl on Instagram will love the way she looks. It is true that Allison is very pretty, we are not going to hide it. But unfortunately few people make the effort to discover a person's entire universe.
Because if you try to get to know Allison a little (and we've been following her for three years, so we can tell you more or less who she is), you will discover an authentic soul who gives herself completely to her passion: music.
But she knew how to keep it simple and she is one of the most humble people we know. Kind of sending you a random listen link saying "maybe this track will catch your attention". While, without realizing it, she just sent you a masterpiece. The kind of song that will make the blogger's day.
"what i'm missing" explores these gaps between the image that we want to give, and the image that people perceive: "Don't wanna get attached so I'm acting cold then you call me unemotional". Allison also expresses her thirst for freedom, after these last two rather complicated years (for musicians, but also for everyone in general): "I'm always searching for something, can't seem to find what I'm running to, this year left me feeling distant, I hope I find what I'm missing ". This chorus is very powerful because it shows a loss of orientation. After everything we've been through, we don't really know where to go or what to do. The only thing we have left is hope. And Allison describes this feeling very well in this new gem.
With a production a little more electronic than on her previous releases, Allison has been able to bring a touch of modernity to current pop (I'm talking about the one that seems bland when you turn on your radio). It's fresh, and honestly, releasing this song at the end of July is THE right idea.
There are in this new song all the ingredients that could open the door to success. So we are counting on you to add this little gem to your playlists. For us, it's done! And we hope she finds "what she's missing".
Added to our Main Spotify Playlist.

Lyrics
I can't sit still and I don't let go
I can't help feeling I move too slow
One foot at home and one on the road
Attached to change 'cause it's all I know
I don't stay long
Don't get to know
I don't unpack don't wanna get too comfortable
I'm halfway in
And I'm halfway gone
I'm always searching for something
Can't seem to find what I'm running to
This year left me feeling distant
I hope I find what I'm missing
You call me up and I see my phone
I don't pick up and I'm feeling low
Don't wanna get attached so I'm acting cold
Then you call me unemotional
I don't pretend
I don't get close
I can't depend on what I don't already know
I'm halfway in
And I'm halfway gone
I'm always searching for something
Can't seem to find what I'm running to
This year left me feeling distant
I hope I find what I'm missing
I hope I find what I'm missing
I hope I find what I'm missing
Someday I'll have what I'm missing
'Til then I'll leave a little distance
I'm always searching for something
Can't seem to find what I'm running to
This year left me feeling distant
I hope I find what I'm missing
I hope I find what I'm missing
I hope I find what I'm missing
