INDIE MUSIC CENTER
FAQ
How the new IMC works
Simple answers about accounts, reviews, community tools, concerts, IMC Records and subscriptions.
What is Indie Music Center?
IMC is an independent music platform where you can discover independent musicians through reviews, artist profiles, and podcasts. It was built in 2017. The 2026 version now includes its own social media platform (IMC Circle), and its own Reader Space for readers, Artist Space for artist, so everyone can connect. Without ads or an algorithm that decides who sees what.
What is an Artist Space?
Artist Space is the control panel for an artist. It brings together the public profile, reviews, stats, concerts, IMC Circle, Streaming Track, Social Growth, IMC Video Studio (and many other tools), messages in one account.
How does IMC Circle work?
IMC Circle is the private community inside IMC. Members can post, follow artists, comment, share links, publish short stories and send private messages.
How do IMC reviews work?
Reviews are written and published by IMC. Artists can follow their published reviews, reads and related activity from their Artist Space.
How does the concerts agenda work?
Eligible artists can add their live dates from Artist Space. Fans can search the public concerts page by place or date and use location-based nearby results.
What is IMC Records?
IMC Records is the physical-music side of IMC. It's planned to be launched in January 2027. Eligible artists will be able to order professional-quality CDs so they can sell them at their merch table with a comfortable margin. We just want them to earn more than the fractions of a cent offered by streaming platforms. It's still under development at the moment.
Do I need a paid plan to use IMC?
No. If you're a reader, the whole reader space is free. If you're an artist, the Artist space is free. Only a few creation tools and professional functions require an active Artist+ subscription.
Can I contact artists on IMC?
Yes. But you need to create your Reader Space for free, first. Messaging is part of the IMC community! You don't even need to have their e-mail address, as we respect everyone's privacy. Your DMs are not read by an algorithm and remain private.
