This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how it is used and protected, and the rights available to you. This Privacy Policy applies to indiemusiccenter.com and the services made available through the website, including public pages, user accounts, Reader Space, Artist Space, Pro Space, IMC Circle and other IMC services.

Passwords are not stored by IMC in plain text.

3. Artist and professional profile information

Artists and professional users may provide additional information for their profiles and IMC services, including, where applicable:
  • artist or professional name;
  • biography;
  • profile and promotional images;
  • country or location information;
  • music genres;
  • website and social media links;
  • release information;
  • music, audio files and associated metadata;
  • concert or event information;
  • press materials;
  • information submitted to IMC for reviews, radio, playlists or other editorial services.
Some of this information is provided specifically for public display.

4. Content and activity on IMC

When you use interactive features, we may process information relating to:
  • posts;
  • stories;
  • comments;
  • likes and reactions;
  • favorite artists or songs;
  • playlists;
  • submissions;
  • uploaded photographs, audio or video;
  • other material you choose to publish or submit.
Content that you intentionally publish publicly may be visible to anyone visiting IMC.

5. Messages and private communications

When IMC provides private messaging or communication features, we may store:
  • sender and recipient information;
  • message content;
  • attachments;
  • timestamps;
  • technical information required to deliver and manage the messages.
Private messages are not published as public content. IMC may access private communications only where reasonably necessary for technical support, security, abuse prevention, compliance with applicable law, or investigation of a reported violation.

When you purchase an IMC service or subscribe to a paid plan, we may process information such as:

Payment transactions may be processed by third-party payment providers such as Stripe. IMC does not intend to store your complete payment card details on its own servers. Payment card information entered through a payment provider is processed by that provider according to its own security and privacy requirements.

7. Email communications

We may process your email address and communication preferences when you:
  • create an account;
  • request transactional notifications;
  • subscribe to an IMC newsletter;
  • opt in to IMC news or updates;

  • use a service requiring email notifications.
Marketing or newsletter emails are sent only where there is an appropriate legal basis for doing so. You can unsubscribe from optional communications at any time. Transactional emails required for the operation or security of your account may still be sent where necessary.

8. Connected third-party services

Some IMC tools may allow you to connect an external service, such as Instagram or another Meta service. When you choose to connect such a service, IMC may receive and store the information required to establish and maintain that connection, such as:

  • information specifically required by the IMC feature you have chosen to use.
IMC will only request access relevant to the functionality being provided. You can disconnect an external service where the relevant IMC feature provides that option. Disconnecting a service does not necessarily delete information already legitimately processed before the connection was removed.

C. How and why we use personal data

  1. Creating and managing IMC accounts.
  2. Providing Reader, Artist and Pro services.
  3. Displaying public artist and professional profiles.
  4. Providing community features including IMC Circle, comments, reactions and other interactions.
  5. Delivering private messages and account notifications.
  6. Receiving and processing music, editorial, playlist, radio or other submissions.
  7. Managing paid plans, purchases, subscriptions and transactions.
  8. Providing requested tools and features within IMC account spaces.
  9. Sending service-related and security emails.
  10. Sending newsletters or optional IMC communications where you have chosen to receive them.
  11. Responding to questions, support requests and other communications.
  12. Protecting IMC, its infrastructure and its users against fraud, abuse, unauthorized access and malicious activity.
  13. Diagnosing technical problems and maintaining the reliability and security of the website.
  14. Complying with legal, accounting, tax and regulatory obligations.
  15. Establishing, exercising or defending legal claims where necessary.

D. Legal bases for processing

Depending on the circumstances, IMC processes personal data on one or more of the following legal bases. Performance of a contract or steps requested before entering into a contract: where processing is necessary to create or operate your account, provide a paid subscription, process a requested service or provide functionality you have chosen to use.   • remain temporarily available in third-party caches or archives after removal from IMC.
IMC cannot control copies independently created by third parties after information has legitimately been made public. You should therefore avoid publishing information that you do not want to make publicly available.

H. Data retention

IMC keeps personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, unless a longer retention period is required by law. In general: Account and profile data is retained while your account remains active. Public content may remain available while the relevant content or account remains active, unless it is removed earlier. Private communications may be retained while required to provide the messaging service and for a reasonable period required for security, dispute handling or legal obligations. Technical and security logs are kept for a limited period appropriate to system security, abuse detection and technical diagnostics. Newsletter information is retained until you unsubscribe or withdraw your consent, subject to limited information that may need to be retained to record that you opted out. Transaction, invoice and accounting records may be retained after account deletion where this is required by applicable accounting, tax or commercial law. When you delete your account or successfully request its deletion, information that is no longer required will be deleted or anonymised within a reasonable technical period. Certain information may temporarily remain in encrypted or system backups until those backups are automatically replaced. Account deletion does not require IMC to erase information that it must legally retain or information whose continued processing is otherwise permitted by applicable law.

I. Cookies and similar technologies

IMC may use cookies and similar technologies. Some cookies are strictly necessary for the operation of the website and may be used without consent where permitted by law. These may include cookies required for:
  • account authentication;

  • user-requested functionality;

IMC is not responsible for the privacy, security or data processing practices of websites and services operated by third parties. When you leave IMC or use an external service, the privacy policy of that service applies.

N. Automated decision-making

IMC does not currently use personal data to make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects for users. If this changes, this Privacy Policy will be updated as required.

O. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when IMC services, technical systems or legal requirements change. The current version will always be published on this page with its latest update date. Where a change materially affects the way personal data is processed, we may also notify registered users by email or through their IMC account where appropriate.

P. Contact and correction of information

You are responsible for keeping the information associated with your account reasonably accurate and up to date. Where account editing tools are available, you can update your information directly through your IMC account.
