“Trees are sanctuaries. He who knows how to speak to them, he who knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth.” – Herman Hesse.
When you travel around the world as much as Marcus Friman, our artist of the day, who came from Sweden, the journey changes you so profoundly that it starts to become introspective at some point.
Your past and inner struggles become reference points, which slowly but regularly update each time you think about them.
On this track, the expedition takes the artist into the harsh lands of indelible pain.
“This silent distress stemming from an unanswered past seems to be everywhere in the media these days, with the controversy surrounding shows like “13 Reasons Why” being the most recent example. “There’s a Reason” provides a reassuring and empowering message to the listener.“, the artist told us. And it worked for us.
In Land of Trees we find this taste for natural music, without artificial instruments, and without synthesizers at every turn.
The voice is simply magnificent, and above all, unique. It’s often said, but for an artist, it’s always a huge advantage to be recognized by their voice from the very first second.
While reminding us a little of Passenger (remember “Let Her Go” a few years ago), Land of Trees is a very particular universe, and one that is unique in itself.
And it feels good. It’s warm, it’s comfortable, and we want more. That’s why we’re featuring it as our song of the month. Because we never get tired of it.
Find it in our “Song of the Month” playlists on YouTube And Spotify.
