Follow Rey Mapache
This is a first for us. We fell in love with this song without even understanding the lyrics.
The music alone was enough. Rey Mapache is a group from Argentina.
We promised ourselves to open up the French a little to what is being done elsewhere, well here we are right in the middle of it.
This track was released last September, and the group is currently touring Argentina.
At the same time, they are working on their first album, which will be recorded in January 2018.
They describe themselves as having a unique style, and we tend to agree.
It’s somewhere between garage rock, with big, powerful guitar riffs, a little touch of hip-hop, and indie rock.
No, actually, let’s not try to label them. This world has too many labels. Music is universal. And it’s simple: it either works or it doesn’t. Either it speaks to us, or it doesn’t.
Even without understanding the lyrics, the music is so powerful, especially when you approach 4 minutes, that it’s enough to lift you up and give you very good vibes.
What’s great about these Argentinians from Patagonia is that they don’t hold a grudge and provide us with an exceptionally brilliant sound. It’s true, they weren’t obligated to. We did send Florent Pagny after all.
