“People don’t mix, like oil and water,” Cady Groves sings to us in this lovely breakup song. Not fatalistic, but rather looking toward the future, the young woman tells us about a breakup she took badly (well, at the same time, who has ever gone through a breakup by celebrating it with champagne?).
He had promised to stay with her all his life, told her he had fallen in love at first sight. In short, the kind of clichés guys usually say at the beginning… and never again after that (and it’s a guy writing this, yes really, we promise).
Cady Groves’s voice has that little something special that makes it instantly engaging. And seeing her there, disappointed and sad, in her wedding dress that now only serves as decoration, you just want to stay with her and tell her it’s not a big deal. That there are idiots everywhere.
