The first time we heard Elfi’s voice was when she submitted her debut single “dream of me” through our submission form on Indie Music Center. We literally fell for this little lady from the Netherlands, now living in London. Just through her voice, you can sense an alluring fragility!
And she did it again just a few days before this magazine’s deadline, with her second single “running wild,” which gave us even stronger chills. So, it’s this song that we decided to officially present to you, although we certainly invite you to listen to the first single. And if, like us, you become addicted to this stunning voice, we have great news for you: she is releasing an EP on November 22, called “bitter into glitter.” We had the chance to listen to it, and believe us, it’s solid.
It’s quite hard to believe that Elfi is only at her debut releases. Indeed, when you listen to her songs, especially “running wild,” you are immediately blown away by her vocal mastery, particularly her falsetto, and the impressive quality of the production, full of little details that you will only hear with quality headphones. Listen closely, it’s an auditory delight!
It’s true that this single has a perhaps overused writing theme; we agree, we’ve heard tons of songs about how hard it is to move on after a breakup. But when it’s done with such beauty, such delicacy, and such sensitivity, it’s much rarer. And we have to stop, listen carefully, savor, and ask for more. Thank you, Elfi!
