The Moonlight Club’s Story
Lost between the 60’s and the 80’s.
Big, bright, jangly guitars inspired by REM and The Smiths mixed with 80s new wave grooves, Montreal's The Moonlight Club is the creation of longtime friends François Royer Mireault (guitar, vocals) and John Pankert (bass, vocals). The pair moved to Montreal in 2010 and discovered an eclectic and vibrant music scene that revived their high school ambitions of recording music.
Words In Gold (2015)
In 2015, the band joined producer David Smith (Patrick Watson, Elephant Stone, Leif Vollebekk at Breakglass Studios to record its first EP - Words in Gold - inspired by legendary bands like The Stone Roses and Echo & The Bunnymen.
The Moonlight Club (2018)
François Rousseau (drums) joined the group in 2015 and the trio released a debut full-length in 2018. Their songs carry an increasing Americana influence (Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, The War On Drugs).
Emerald EP (2020)
The new EP is the rousing result of the band's evolution from trio to quartet. These five songs create a warm, nostalgic journey inspired by the colours and sounds of life in the city and explore a brighter, heartland sound. Emerald was recorded with producer Peter Van Uytfanck (Jimmy Hunt, Milk & Bone, Alex Nevsky) at the new Tous Les Jours / Penny Lane Studio.
