Good indie-rock tracks are becoming increasingly rare these days. And the indie-rock bands with a female front singer even more. So we can already say that Twin Rituals are an exception.

Just hearing the intro, we were already seduced by the very high quality of production. The bouncy bassline and frenzied guitar riffs are impeccable.

And when we heard the singer's incredible voice, it was as if we had put our fingers in the socket. Imagine a rather classic voice, a bit like London Grammar, but on a decidedly rock universe. The result is surprising and even ... stripping!

The song evokes an interesting parallel between man and animal, and in this specific case, lion hunting. Very strong words which hide a message evoking the manipulation and the strong influence that we can sometimes have on each other. A little disturbing at first listen, the poetic lyrics take on their full meaning when you really pay attention to them.

"Carrion" is a gem in every sense of the word. There is magic at Twin Ritual. That's it. As if, with the wave of a magic wand, you found yourself bewitched. It works perfectly. And there is no point in struggling. You too will succumb.

Added to our Main Spotify Playlist, our "Feeling Lost" playlist, and played daily on Indie Music Center's Radio.

Lyrics

The lion doesn't give up the hunt

just cuz she knows the carrion will feast.

I like to think crows are smarter than men -

They know the lion doesn’t hunt for them, for them.

I want out of your game.

When I win it’s not the same.

The lion crouches low, pounces quick.

She’s got her power, doesn’t want your tricks.

She barely notices the vultures descend.

The lion doesn’t hunt for them, for them.

I want out of your game.

When I win it’s not the same.

I call out, you hear your name.

I want out of your game.

Pick the bones clean,

and when they comes for the crumbs,

they’ll laugh in your face like they’ve won.

They don’t know the danger they face yet.

They don’t know how hungry this girl gets.

I want out of your game.

When I win it’s not the same.

I call out, you hear your name.

I want out of your game.

I want out.

I want out.
