Thomas LaVine is an artist who takes his time: several months separate his single releases. Yes, we waited since January 29th. But each time, it's worth the wait.

Because we always take a huge slap when we discover the result of his hard work. When Thomas sends you a private link, several weeks before a release, you already know that you'll get shivers down your spine. And every time he does send a link, I'm overexcited even before listening to the song. Thomas is a perfectionist, and I know he won't release a song until it reaches the level of excellence he has set for himself. And honestly, I think that's a great strategy.

During our interview in April for the 1000 reviews, we pointed out the fact that each song by Thomas has a close relationship to nature, and more particularly to water because each title contains a reference to water. This new single is no exception to the rule since it is called ... "Open Sea"!

After the tough last 18 months we've been through, we all want an immediate reconnection with nature. And this song is the perfect soundtrack for it.

"Open Sea" has tiny details that most people won't notice, as music tends to be consumed on lousy-sounding smartphones, but trust me, with quality headphones you will hear those little details. production that makes all the difference. With these few banjo notes, these slight echoes at the end of certain phrases, Thomas proves that he's a master in the art of creating an entirely immersive experience.

Close your eyes, and there you are. Whether by a lake or on a beach, the magic will operate, it is inevitable. And your imagination will do the rest. Single after single, Thomas draws images in music. Images that cannot be forgotten. And his Spotify is turning into a very beautiful book, almost like a journey among the beauties of this planet.

Very calm at the beginning, the song reaches an epic climax, just as we like. And that's when Thomas triggers, again, the ultimate thrill.

How could we do without such talent in the IMC Family?

Added to our Main Spotify Playlist, our "IMC Family" playlist, and also the "Lovely Nature" playlist (of course).

And played daily on Indie Music Center's Radio.

Lyrics

I laid in the water

I let it take me

And there was a constant hollow sound

‘til I heard your voice

Then there was an ocean

Left for the taking

And I was a stranger

Sitting by your mountainside

Hold on

Let’s run to the open sea

Cause I’m not escaping

The waves that cover me

I stared at the shoreline

I let it move me

And there was a calming sense of nothing in soul

Hold on

Let’s run to the open sea

Cause I’m not escaping

The waves that cover me

Hold on

Let’s run to the open sea

Cause I’m not escaping

The waves that cover me

I laid in the water

I let it take me

And there was a constant sound of

Hollow in your voice
