Our thoughts

Don’t panic. This is not a Frank Sinatra cover. No tuxedos, no Vegas spotlight, no crooning by the fireplace! This My Way comes from Jetlagged, the German indie-folk crew who already gave us Road Trip in March. And guess what. They’re back with a track that proves they’re not just good. They’re incredibly consistent at it.

This one starts with a rhythm that grabs your brain and taps it like a finger on a window. The melody is repetitive, almost like a bell ringing at the same spot every time. It’s not there to decorate the song. It’s there to say something. To remind you that even if life feels like a roundabout, you can still jump off and take the road that leads home.

And while you’re thinking about that, the track quietly builds up. No dramatic explosions, no big emotional breakdowns, but only good old songwriting with taste. Every instrument that joins the party knows its place. Nobody’s trying to show off. Nobody’s fighting for space. The balance is perfect. The whole thing grows slowly with intention, not ego.

That’s the kind of track you want to listen to with headphones, lying on the floor, asking yourself if you’re still doing things the way YOU want to. And if not, why the hell not?

We love this one. Jetlagged knows exactly what they’re doing. And if this is the energy they’re sending out for the rest of the year, we’re here for it!

A bit more about Jetlagged

Jetlagged is a German acoustic band that has been writing, recording, and performing together for over fifteen years. Their songs draw from real-life experiences, touching on love, distance, change, and everything in between. The music is carried by acoustic guitars that shift between delicate fingerpicking and steady rhythm, supported by percussion and bass.

A violin brings depth and adds a melodic voice of its own. Over the years, Jetlagged has connected with listeners of all ages and backgrounds.

They have shared the stage with acts like Nada Surf, Ezio, Philipp Poisel, and Enno Bunger. Their debut album, _Depart, Be Lost, But Climb_, was released in 2011. Since 2021, they’ve continued to release a steady stream of singles. In 2022, they reached the semi-finals of SPH Music Masters, one of the largest band contests in Europe. Recommended if you like Dekker, Mighty Oaks, Harrison Storm, Vance Joy, Snow Patrol, or The Paper Kites.

Lyrics

I was far out deep in the woods
Had no shelter, I found no food
I thought I was lost in the cold
Walked away too far from home
Yeah

Then I found my way
My way
My guiding light when I went astray
Yeah I found my way, my way
My guiding light when I went astray

Now I’m home
I was gone
I got back home
Out of the unknown

Then I made a turn at the bank
Stopped and stared into a bright lake
My reflection taught me to hope
Guided me into the unknown
Yeah

Then I found my way
My way
My guiding light when I went astray
Yeah, I found my way, my way
My guiding light when I went astray

Now I’m home
I was gone
I got back home
Out of the unknown
