Our thoughts

As a big fan of the piano-guitar combo, I must admit that Starlight captivated me from the very first listen. And to my memory, I think this is the first time I've heard piano in an Adam Falkingham track (but don't worry, I’ll double-check).

In any case, this combo is delightful when mixed with Adam's exceptional voice. Very few artists have a true vocal signature, one that can be recognized within seconds among thousands of voices. Unfortunately, in indie music, many songs sound alike. This is not the case here, as this warm and reassuring voice immediately puts us at ease and paints a picture in our minds.

Yes, it's true, one could think it's a love song. I would rather say it's about someone who has been missing for years, leaving a big void, and whom you think about when looking at the stars. Perfect for stargazing with the right soundtrack, Starlight will reconcile you with your late-night thoughts.

I just became a dad, and I recently wrote a song for my daughter about "looking at the stars together." Another sign from the universe?

The good news is that you can truly trust this artist 100% to create quality music. Since this is his 5th feature here, he officially joins the IMC Family... and in less than two years. That’s a record!

Adam Falkingham's take on "Starlight"

It follows the upbeat ‘Campfire Light’ I released last summer, and if that was the outdoor adventure part of the day, I could say that ‘Starlight’ is the song for once the campfire has gone out and you’re stargazing into deep thought. It’s a mellow number with warm tones that are met with a catchy chorus but a little more moodiness too.

A bit more about Adam Falkingham

Hailing from Southend-on-Sea, Adam Falkingham combines the wonders of the great outdoors with personal experiences to create wonderfully crafted, upbeat indie-folk songs. His music appeals to fans of artists such as Noah Kahan, Hollow Coves, Ben Howard, The Paper Kites, and Bear's Den.  A musician and producer since a young age, Falkingham has supported artists such as Alex Cornish (music for The Big C and BBC’s Wainwright's Walks) as well as Chris Shiflett (Foo Fighters) as part of the support act. Having released and produced music for different projects such as singer/songwriter Roisin O'Hagan, Falkingham released a solo debut EP in 2023 entitled ‘One Day Like No Other,’ which was inspired by artists such as Ben Howard, The Paper Kites as well as the legendary Paul Simon.

Lyrics

Echoes in the room
Why am I always drawn to them
Skyline and the moon
Winter cold, it's getting late so soon

It's all about timing, even with motion
And starlight in the night
I don't know where to go with this
Don't even know if it's right

I know I can't have you
I know it couldn't be that way
Don't know if we will ever know the truth
The room is brighter with you
The room is brighter with you

Late night on our own
Spinning round in circles that we go
Moments not to lose
On the line, or am I just confused

It's all about timing, even with motion
And starlight in the night
I don't know where to go with this
Don't even know if it's right

I know I can't have you
I know it couldn't be that way
Don't know if we will ever know the truth
The room is brighter now
Years gone by
Working oh how time flies
Getting lost then coming into view
The room is brighter with you
The room is brighter with you

Now it's lights out
Then it's city dawn
All these nights out all along
No, I can't work out if it's all wrong

I know I can't have you
I know it couldn't be that way
Don't know if we will ever know the truth
The room is brighter now
Years gone by
Working oh how time flies
Getting lost then coming into view
The room is brighter with you
The room is brighter with you
The room is brighter with you
