Skyepaint

Skyepaint’s Story

Skyepaint is the solo synthpop project of Newcastle-based songwriter and producer Amos Wellings. His distinct sound fuses the melodic sensibilities of 80s and 90s pop with modern electronic production and shimmering retro synths.

His 2020 single Pipe Dream featured Melbourne-based indie pop singer/songwriter Bares, and was recorded across state lines in their home studios. Following an exclusive blog premiere with The AU Review who described it as a "bright summery tune, just the tonic to dance away your problems", the song was featured in Spotify's Fresh Finds and Fresh Finds Pop editorial playlists.

Since the release of his debut single in late 2017, Skyepaint's music has been featured by the likes of Purple Sneakers, Project U, The AU Review and Acid Stag. With keytar in hand, Skyepaint has shared line-ups with some of Australia’s finest indie and electronic artists, including E^ST, RAAVE TAPES, CLYPSO, Luboku and more.

"There’s a fair chunk of people doing 80s-inspired, sun-drenched synthpop these days and it’s astounding how few get it right. Skyepaint is one of those few." (Project U)
