Lizzy King’s Story
Creating 'Floating' was a cathartic release from paralyzing fear and coping with past traumas surrounding letting my art live in the world, and simply showing up to my life. Like all good realizations, this one happened in the shower: Life is painful whether I choose to show up or fade away; which pain will I choose? While the process took years, writing the song poured out in less than twenty minutes on my out-of-tune piano. The musical textures and harmony captures the tension between sadness and hope that is ever-present in the process of healing. Thank you for listening.
Lizzy King is an LA-based singer, songwriter, and producer. Originally from San Diego, Lizzy grew up surrounded by musicians. Every night she would fall asleep to the sound of her mother playing piano and spend her afternoons belting “Back in the USSR” on the way to pick up her brother Nate from karate. Lizzy and Nate eventually become creative partners, working on her 2018 project, 'The Lost Years EP’ together, as well as her self-produced single, ‘La Loba' and her latest release, ‘Floating’.
