Terms of Use
Last updated: October 18, 2026
These Terms of Use govern access to and use of Indie Music Center, available at indiemusiccenter.com, including its public website, Reader Space, Artist Space, Pro Space where available, IMC Circle, messaging features, artist profiles and the tools made available through the platform. Indie Music Center is referred to below as “IMC”, “we”, “us” or “our”. The legal identity and contact details of the operator are available in the Legal Notice. By creating an account or using a members-only IMC service, you agree to these Terms of Use.
1. Types of accounts
IMC may provide different account types, including Reader, Artist, and Pro accounts (soon). A Reader account provides access to listener and community functions. An Artist account may be linked to an existing public Artist Profile and provides access to Artist Space and artist-specific tools. A Pro account may provide professional management features where those services are available. The features associated with each account type may change as IMC services develop.
2. Account registration and security
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep that information reasonably up to date. You are responsible for protecting your password and other authentication credentials and for activity carried out through your account. You must notify IMC promptly if you believe that your account has been accessed without authorization. Automated account creation, credential stuffing, scraping, attempts to bypass authentication or security measures, and other abusive automated activity are prohibited.
3. Artist Profiles and profile claims
An Artist Profile may exist on IMC before the artist creates an IMC account. Where an existing profile is available, an artist may request to claim it. IMC may require verification before linking the profile to an Artist account. Claiming a profile does not transfer ownership of IMC editorial material, reviews, statistics, historical data or other content created independently by IMC. The artist gains control only over the profile information and functions that IMC makes editable through Artist Space.
4. User content
Users may be able to upload or publish text, music, audio files, photographs, artwork, logos, videos, links, comments, messages and other material. You retain ownership of the content you submit. You grant IMC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence, for as long as necessary to provide the relevant IMC service, to host, store, cache, reproduce, resize, encode, transcode, display, stream and technically process that content where required to operate the feature in which you submitted it. This licence does not transfer ownership of your work to IMC. You confirm that you hold the rights and permissions required to upload and use the content concerned, including where applicable rights relating to music, recordings, artwork, photographs, trademarks, names and likenesses. IMC Records manufactures physical CDs in artist-ordered batches under a separate Artist CD Manufacturing Agreement. Artists keep control of their music, artwork and independent resale revenue.
5. Community rules
Users must not publish or transmit unlawful content, content that infringes third-party rights, fraudulent or misleading material, harassment, threats, abusive conduct, malicious software, spam, impersonation or content intended to compromise the security or proper operation of IMC. IMC may remove or restrict content, features or accounts where reasonably necessary to enforce these rules, protect users, comply with the law, respond to rights claims or protect the technical integrity of the service. Where required by applicable law, IMC may provide information about the reason for a moderation decision and any available means of contesting it.
6. IMC Circle, messages and social features
Content posted in IMC Circle (the internal social media platform of IMC) or other public or semi-public areas may be visible to other users according to the visibility settings of the relevant feature. Private messages are intended for communication between the users concerned. Users must not use messaging functions for spam, fraud, harassment or unlawful solicitation. Following artists, saving songs and creating playlists do not grant ownership or intellectual property rights over the music concerned.
7. Music and media made available through IMC
Artists remain responsible for ensuring that music, recordings, artwork and other media they make available through IMC can lawfully be used in the manner they select. Playlist and listening functions do not authorize physical CD reproduction. CD manufacturing requires an artist order and relevant permissions. Physical CD orders are governed by the Artist CD Manufacturing Agreement and applicable Terms of Sale.
8. Reviews, editorial content and submissions
IMC retains editorial independence over reviews, articles, playlists, selections, badges and other editorial decisions. Purchasing or using a submission does not guarantee publication, a review, playlist placement, favourable coverage, a particular score or any other editorial outcome. A submission gives IMC the ability to receive and consider the submitted material according to the service described at the time of submission. Users must not attempt to influence editorial decisions through threats, fraudulent activity, multiple accounts or manipulation of platform data.
9. IMC tools
Some IMC tools are available free of charge, eligible tools can be unlocked permanently for a one-time payment of 9 € per tool, and some tools are included with an active Artist+ subscription. Certain tools may use automated processing. Their output may contain errors and should be checked by the user before publication or professional use. Users remain responsible for material they create, publish or distribute using IMC tools.
10. Third-party services
Some IMC features may connect to third-party services such as Stripe, Meta, Instagram or other platforms. Use of those services may also be subject to the third party’s own terms and policies. IMC is not responsible for a third party changing, restricting, suspending or discontinuing its API or service.
11. Availability and maintenance
IMC may temporarily interrupt access for maintenance, security, technical incidents or updates. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability at all times, but this does not limit any mandatory rights applicable to paid digital services.
12. Suspension and termination
IMC may restrict or suspend an account where there is a serious or repeated breach of these Terms, fraud, security abuse, infringement of third-party rights, unlawful conduct or a material risk to IMC or its users. Where appropriate, IMC may first request corrective action. Users may stop using IMC and may request account deletion subject to legal retention requirements and the conditions described in the Privacy Policy. Ending an account does not automatically erase public editorial material independently created by IMC, such as published reviews.
13. Intellectual property belonging to IMC
The IMC name, design, software, interfaces, editorial material, reviews, graphics, databases and original content are protected by applicable intellectual property law. Except where expressly permitted, users may not reproduce, scrape, redistribute, sell or exploit IMC content or software without permission.
14. Privacy and cookies
Personal data is processed according to the IMC Privacy Policy. Information concerning cookies and similar technologies is available in the Cookie Policy.
15. Reporting unlawful or infringing content
Users and third parties may report content they believe to be unlawful or infringing using the contact or reporting methods provided by IMC. A report should contain enough information to identify the content and explain the basis of the complaint.
16. Changes to these Terms
IMC may update these Terms when necessary to reflect changes to the service, legal requirements or security and operational needs. Material changes affecting registered users will be communicated by an appropriate method before they take effect where required.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by French law. Nothing in these Terms deprives a consumer residing in another country of any mandatory consumer protection that cannot lawfully be excluded under the law applicable to that consumer.
18. Contact
For questions concerning these Terms, please use the contact information provided in the Legal Notice or the support functions available through IMC.
