Here is a rather original writing subject: two foreigners sitting side by side in an airplane. What can happen? What are the thoughts that cross our minds at this time? Of course, it's just an image, which helps to illustrate how a relationship can arise. It can be born on an airplane but also in a bunch of other places, as Matt Koelsch explains: "The song is about the prospect of romance and how it can be sparked anywhere, even with the passenger sitting beside you on an airplane who does not speak your native language."
I admit that I find myself a little in this description. Because only one or two of the 1500+ artists featured on IMC speak my native language. So how do you develop a relationship from almost zero? In my case, it's through music. Because it is a universal way of expressing oneself, and also of expressing emotions. But in the case of a relationship, it can go through attitudes, gestures, as the song describes it so well.
With a soft and warm vocal performance, Matt Koelsch won us over in just a few seconds. And we have to admit it: the chorus is catchy as hell.
The artist has already shared the stage with members of REM, Pink Floyd, and Toto. Just that! Matt is a true music lover, and he shines through his music. I have rarely had this feeling where I can imagine the artist recording his song in the studio, and above all: having fun singing. Yes, it's rare that this joy of doing what you love shines through the song.
The production quality is exceptionally high, allowing each instrument to have the place it deserves (electric guitar, piano, acoustic guitar, drums, and bass). The mixing is very clever and the end result is stunning. Very professional.
After appearing on "New Music Nashville" and "Fresh Finds: Country" editorial Spotify playlists, Matt is settling on IMC and it wouldn't be surprising if you saw him again in the coming months if he continues to amaze us with his beautiful and sweet melodies.
Reach out to Matt Koelsch
