The very first time I heard a snippet of this song was in an Instagram ad the artist ran a few weeks ago. And I immediately thought "oh, that's not bad!". It must be admitted that sometimes circumstances do not always help me to remember a song. Especially when you listen to thousands of them a year. But when I heard this song again in our submission queue, I took it as a sign from the universe. If this song crosses my path a second time, it's probably for a good reason.

And this opportunity to listen to it in full allowed me to realize how much of a masterpiece it is. "Start Again" the latest release from Dubai-based musician Jonathan Lobo, is a nugget of good humor. In less than four minutes, this song makes you want to start all over again.

We all went through two complicated years, where our relationships were sometimes hampered, where our relationship with each other was called into question. Maybe some of you have realized that their friends aren't really their friends, and complete strangers can give them so much more. Maybe you've reached out to people you've previously been completely indifferent to. These last two years have certainly been challenging, but they have reshuffled the cards.

The desire for a new start was the majority. Many city dwellers wanted to settle in the countryside, feeling definitely no longer at ease between the four walls of an apartment. Others have changed jobs for something that makes more sense. That's my case. I was tired of spending my days copying and pasting into an Excel table. I needed to feel more useful. Helping musicians to gain self-confidence and to believe in their talent then became my main mission. And bringing you, dear readers, musical jewels that will become the soundtrack to every chapter of your life has quickly become vital to me. And you, what are the changes that 2020 and 2021 have wrought on you?

"Start Again" is the perfect anthem for a fresh start. And it's also, in a way, a new beginning for Jonathan Lobo. Completely different from his two previous singles, "Start Again" is based on a clear and luminous melody, catchy as hell, which will not want to leave your head anymore. Driven by the super professional production quality, the song has everything expected of it. It evolves slowly and grows to bring us that little extra that we are looking for on IMC: goosebumps.

And the positive message goes everywhere, from your ears to your eyes, through simple and effective artwork by Janice Lobo (@wakeanddraw): a landscape drawn with ease that opens up endless possibilities, where everything becomes possible. And it is also this simplicity that we liked with the artist in general. We do not know much about Jonathan, who is rather discreet about his career. We don't know if it comes from a certain shyness, or if it's voluntary, to maintain a kind of mystery that makes you want to know more. But we were seduced. Often, with less, we express more.

Jonathan Lobo's voice acted like a guru on us. We found ourselves trapped in this wave of sweetness and optimism without being able to get out. And if we think about it... Do we really want it to stop? Of course, no. That's why the "repeat" button was invented. Do not hesitate to abuse it.
