This is the first time for Dan Zimmerman at IMC. And we welcome him with pleasure! Because his new single "Soldiers", which comes out today, is a real nugget!

It is true that we don't often feature electronic sounds, but this song was so good that it was impossible for us to miss it! And to be honest, it's not 100% electronic or instrumental. It's even a very tasty mix of electro-pop and indie-pop. If you like voices like Sam Smith, you'll love Dan Zimmerman.

Dan is an independent Brooklyn-based queer singer-songwriter, and it's safe to say he hit the nail on the head, as this single is being released pretty timely for LGBTQ + Pride Month.

With uplifting lyrics, a super catchy melody, and an exceptionally high-level production, "Soldiers" ticks all the boxes to become a hit. And we sincerely hope that the radios will be able to spot it because it's worth it!

Regarding "Soldiers", Dan told us, "I had spent quite a lot of time swimming through an expanse of meaningless hookups and empty first dates when I finally came across a spark. 'Soldiers' aims to capture that feeling of excitement and possibility that comes with starting something fresh with someone new - and all of the obsession and bruising that comes with it. The concept gives a nod to the Ancient Greek battlefield and the homoerotic camaraderie among soldiers (described in Homer as “beloved companionship”). I think I was particularly enchanted by the wordplay of fighting ‘with’ and ‘for’ someone."

We loved the parallel between the struggle that people of the LGBTQ + community sometimes have to wage and the Ancient Greek Battlefields. Even if we admit it to you bluntly, having to still fight to just have the right to exist is a shame. We have already told you, in some previous articles, notably Kevin Atwater, our best friends are gay, and it is inconceivable for us to treat them as being "special" or "apart". We all have an important role to play on Earth, no matter who we are or who we love.
