Hello friends! This is your Captain Niko speaking! I can hardly believe what I'm writing to you, but it’s true! The very first issue of Niko's Music Magazine is now available for our fans on Patreon.
This is a fully digital magazine. This allows me to keep subscription costs low and reach a global audience. I looked into potential printing options, but the prices are quite prohibitive. Additionally, shipping costs abroad would require working with printers on every continent, which would make things complicated. Moreover, printing that much paper goes against my ecological values, as I strive to reduce my carbon footprint as much as possible. The high quality of the provided PDF file should allow you to go to your local printer and print it if you'd like, though.
Every month, it features an 18-page interview with the cover artist. But if you’re more comfortable with the audio format, the interview is also available on the "Extended Play" podcast.
It also features 16 music reviews (12 are recently released tracks, 2 are labeled as "Best Indie Songs Ever", and 2 are "not indie" but are truly worth it!)
And that’s not all! Each issue comes with "Niko's Music Mixtape", a sort of virtual CD accessible to everyone on Spotify, as it’s a public playlist. It features all the tracks we talk about in the magazine, in the same order, so you can listen along while reading. You’ll even be able to sing along with the lyrics sheets!
This project was made without a team or outside contributors, just one person, resulting from 3 years of brainstorming, testing, layout design, and a few nervous breakdowns along the way… So, I really hope you enjoy it!
Big thanks to the artists who played along with our questions and sent us their files. And a special shoutout to those who weren’t even notified and who are getting a surprise feature from us ;)
And of course, thank you to our very first subscribers, who rushed to sign up less than an hour after the announcement: you’re amazing!
Now, these 3 years of work are yours!
Musically yours,
Niko
