Kaitee Page - What Day is it Today

February 18, 2021

Let's go to Texas today, and more specifically to Dallas, to meet Kaitee Page.

After 8 years of silence, Kaitee is back to music with "What Day Is It Today", driven by the global health situation. The difficult context we are going through has put the artist back on the tracks of writing, and it was impossible for him not to write about it.

It is true that with successive lockdowns, and for us in Europe, coupled with curfews, sometimes we do not know what day it is.

This pandemic has revealed sometimes human aspects of our relationships, and sometimes totally "robotic" through social media. We have experienced political turmoil, events we would like to forget, and this pandemic has also brought to the surface deeper problems such as racism, anarchism, and mental illness.

Resolutely electro-pop, the song is accompanied by a perfectly performed music video. On a very captivating melody, the soft voice of Kaitee shows us how much we can find ourselves lost in a world where everything seems to go to hell. And this is the beauty of the contrast: a very soft voice that describes the direst situation. A magnificent piece of art. The vocal harmonies of the last chorus left us speechless.

A jewel to savor from the first to the last second, while waiting for the situation to improve, there is only one thing to do: hope.

Included in our "Indie Pop" playlist, and of course, you will now hear this amazing track on the Indie Music Radio.

Kaitee Page's point of view

"What Day is it Today" is the first single off of my debut album coming Summer 2021. Written 6 months into the pandemic, this song captivates a world of political turmoil, social unrest, and violence, a polarized population, a broken political system, racism, anarchy, mental illness & disillusionment, a world where the media, internet, and iPhones reign free and unfortunately play a larger, more central role in our choices and behaviors than human connection itself. "What Day is it Today" is about history repeating itself over and over again as well as each day feeling quite literally the same as the last due lockdowns and a near-halted economy. People are not well right now; they are not their best. I hope this song at the very least makes people think, if not at the very most influences them to make a change for the better.

More about Kaitee Page

Kaitee Page was never going to write another song again. She’d spent 15 years in the music industry as a session string player in LA, a touring 5-string electric violinist & keyboard player, and an electro-pop singer-songwriter performing under the moniker, Lunic. Tired of swimming upstream in an Industry prone to chewing artists up and spitting them out, combined with a few things hitting the fan in her personal life, she packed her bags and moved from NYC / LA to Dallas to focus on a career in fine arts / abstract painting. The silence was comforting... until the pandemic & protests hit, and there was nothing left to do but write. Now, 8 years since her last full-length record was released (as Lunic), Kaitee Page brings us precisely the pandemic song we need, “What Day is it Today,” ditching the moniker and giving it to us as herself: raw, vulnerable, & confident. To be fair, Kaitee Page is still Lunic in many ways: catchy electro-pop songs, melodic keyboard hooks, deliberate & sincere lyrics, but the sound Page gives us is arguably more mature than that of Lunic, showing not only her growth musically, but her emotional growth as well.
