Jenny Kern - Miss Somebody

September 02, 2022

Have you ever placed all your marbles in a relationship that, no matter what happens, was doomed? Sometimes, despite our best efforts, we have to face the facts: it's not going to work. And it is better to look at the good times.

That's what Jenny Kern's new song is about, and "Miss Somebody" looks more than promising for the singer's career. A real turning point, with more pop tendencies and a huge potential to make it a hit on the radio.

Jenny Kern was born in Canada but is now based in Brooklyn, and has been part of the IMC Family for quite some time now, and this new single marks her 6th feature on IMC. Still in a slightly dreamy pop universe, Jenny never ceases to amaze with her professionalism and her keen sense of perfection.

About this new song, Jenny told us "it's a song that reminisces about a past love. As much as love is a part of being human, so is heartbreak. But there’s something beautiful about remembering something special."

Always showing great maturity, the artist prefers to use her personal experiences to move forward, rather than remaining frozen in the past, as she confides: "I'm definitely a person who struggles to let go of certain moments, feelings or people. However, I am learning how to appreciate those moments even when they're gone. I'm learning how important it is to live in the present emotions. To think, process, and write about them. To feel it all and know it's ok to miss somebody."

A clever mix between the somewhat retro pop of The Weeknd and the more tangy universe of HAIM, Jenny Kern once again sets the bar very high with this new song, and it is urgent that you add it to your favorite Spotify playlist to give it the boost it deserves. With a very catchy melody, the song is the perfect soundtrack to prolong your long summer evenings.

If Jenny is part of the IMC Family, it is precisely for this simple reason: you will never be disappointed by a Jenny Kern song. And "Miss Somebody" is a masterpiece that joins the already long list of little gems of our favorite Canadian.

To celebrate the release of her EP, she will be sharing the stage with Jake Huffman on October 1st in Toronto, at Baby 6, and you can already grab your tickets here.

Lyrics:

Can’t help it
But feel like I am wide awake and dreaming
Cause I was unaware but now I see it
That loving you the way I did was easy
It was so easy

Spend all my time wasting away the days
But now you’re on my mind just like nothing’s changed
And I stay up all night letting it replay
I guess I never really walked away

I’m falling back into our innocence
You’ll find me holding on until the end
I’d even go through all the pain again
And over again
It’s really nice to miss somebody
Somebody, somebody

It hasn’t faded
Think about the ways we could have made it
I don’t care I’m not afraid to say it
It’s just loving you got way too complicated
Complicated

Spend all my time wasting away the days
But now you’re on my mind just like nothing’s changed
And I stay up all night letting it replay
I guess I never really walked away

I’m falling back into our innocence
You’ll find me holding on until the end
I’d even go through all the pain again
And over again
It’s really nice to miss somebody

I guess I never really walked away
I guess I never really walked away
I guess I never really walked away
I guess I never really walked away

I’m falling back into our innocence
You’ll find me holding on until the end
I’d even go through all the pain again
And over again
It’s really nice to miss somebody
Somebody, somebody
