If you like rock songs that capture your attention and curiosity in just a few seconds, like "Use Somebody" by Kings of Leon, you'll love Cesc's new single, "Letter to You", which is the first single from his upcoming debut album.

Cesc Sansalvadó, Cesc for short, is a Spanish artist who was rather singer-songwriter and folk-oriented until now if we listen to his Spotify catalog. A 180° musical turn for this new single, a risky bet... that works!

Super catchy, the song which is nothing but an honest and sincere declaration of love, captivates us from the electric guitar intro. Cesc's vocals are powerful, but also perfectly mastered in the dosage: calm and delicate on the verses, and more gripping on the choruses.

Some might think the chorus is a bit simple in its writing. Certainly. But when I turn on my radio, I tell myself that this song really has more than you might be used to hearing: authenticity.

Very emotional, "Letter To You" will hook you like never before and will stay in your head for days. A new era in the career of the singer, which suits us very well. We can't wait to find out what's next!

Reach out to Cesc

Have you ever been bullied at school? This happened to me, for more than 10 years, as I was different. You can learn more about this here. But this is probably why I can relate to this song so easily.

If sometimes you doubt yourself, your value, or your beauty (which is not necessarily where you think), this song is for you!

We discovered the powerful voice of Nate Amor in September with "Lose This Way". And from the first seconds of "Beautiful", when we heard it again, this voice gave us the same chills: immediate and intense.

For Nate Amor, the inspiration for this song comes from his daughter, as he told us:

"My daughter Jasmine came home years ago from school and was really upset. She’d been bullied. Naturally as a father I instinctively wanted to destroy the boy or boys who said these things to her... but they were just words after all. So I reassured her that as her father, I saw her as very beautiful. That me and God saw her as perfectly made and that although those words hurt, they were just lies. I told the story to Tony. He came by my office and an hour or so later, we had the song. Tony related as his daughter had been bullied in school. So this is an anthem for ALL women ALL over the WORLD to know that you are BEAUTIFUL just the way you are. Don’t you go and change a thing!"

A wonderful message of love, tolerance, and unity that shines through all the lines of the song, carried by an absolutely divine and haunting melody.

We've already talked about the singer's incredible vocal prowess, but we sincerely believe that this song wouldn't have the same impact if it were sung by someone else. This incredible voice has a lot to do with the "wow" effect.

"Beautiful" is a jewel that deserves its place in your playlists and that will put a smile on your face. Do you also feel better after listening to it?

Carley Varley and IMC is the story of a beautiful encounter that started in January 2020. The pretty blonde from the south of England caught our eye at that time with “Found”. Then, with each release, she amazed us more and more, until joining the IMC Family in December 2021.

The Carley you knew until now was a rather pop artist, with sometimes folk sonorities, but always with this talent for writing and catchy melodies. The Carley we present to you today for her 8th IMC feature is, in fact, the authentic Carley, down to her deepest roots. Like us, she grew up listening to artists like Avril Lavigne, Linkin Park, and other rock sounds that made the 2000s so special. It was therefore inevitable that the artist tries the experience of a more alt-rock track than her previous releases.

"Better Without Me", out now on all platforms, is the result of Carley's encounter with the artists who have influenced her career. Very rock, with powerful drums and explosive electric guitars, a caustic bassline, and this melancholy in the lyrics typical of her sincere writing, this new song reconnects Carley Varley with her true "me". As if the butterfly finally opened its wings to reveal all its beauty.

Taken from her upcoming EP “Home Sick,” the singer recently shared on Instagram how the EP title came to her:

"I was looking back at the photos, I spotted 'Home Sick' written behind me in graffiti! When I saw it I was immediately thinking 'Wow this looks like an album cover!!' And that is the story of how my next EP's title was born!"

If you are attentive, you will notice that it is precisely the illustration photo that we have chosen, because we loved this anecdote.

And if you want to know more about this risky but fabulously successful musical shift, Carley Varley will be our guest of honor in episode 2 of our "Indie Hour" podcast, available next Wednesday on IMC. We can't wait for you to hear the great chat we had about it! In the meantime, you can still check out the first episode with special guest Thomas LaVine and many other great artists featured.

What if summer was endless? It's a bit like the proposal of Sleeping Together and their debut single "Summer Girl". And the invitation is clear from the first line: "Summer girl, won't you lie with me on the grass?".

As incredible as it sounds, Sleeping Together was formed... over Facetime. Alexander, Jason, Ryan and Mike, all from the UK, managed to create their own musical universe in no time, quite close to The Hunna, with an anthemic and catchy chorus that won't want to leave you for weeks.

As the lead singer says, the song "was inspired by a short and sweet summer romance. At the end of summer, the couple agreed to go their separate ways". We also appreciated their sharp, very British sense of humor: "However, much like the British summer, this romance was rained off too soon".

The production quality of "Summer Girl" is absolutely breathtaking, and gives hope for future singles just as good as the first.

Being famed for fronting the 9-piece “little-big band” Phat Cat Swinger, which frequently performs for Disney, it seems that Phat Cat Swinger has left its mark on our artist's mind. Indeed, I would never have imagined such a spectacular ending. To have this made at 9 people, okay, but on a solo single, it's amazing.

The artist mentioned Coldplay in his influences. And it is true that Chris Martin and his friends are quite adept at explosive endgames that trigger the thrills ("Fix You" is a very good example). That's why I wanted to release 'A Place We Don't Know' on World Sleep Day. I'm fascinated by the limitless abilities of the human mind. We can create entire universes and life experiences all without going anywhere, ”Palos continued." A Place We Don't Know "captures the essence of the hope and mystery that have carried me through this bizarre time during lockdown.”

Combining reverie, fascination, dreams, the song is a masterpiece of poetry. The vocals are perfectly mastered, every note is right, and the artist's vocal power is exceptional.

His ease is quite disconcerting, and everything is fluid in this track, for which the artist has surrounded himself with the greatest for the production.

Let's go to Southend-On-Sea, a city we particularly like, on the music side. Well, we are not here to replace the local newspaper, but here is some news from this pretty seaside resort located at the mouth of the Thames in the east of England. Let's start with a sad news, we learned on September 24 of the separation of the band called The Collier, already come to see us several times, and from the same city. Whatever the reasons for their decision, we wish them good luck for the future. Let's get back to our main topic of the day, and this is huge news: a new single for The Trusted! Their latest single, "The Innocent", did pretty well, even here! It's one of the most read articles on Indie Music Center this summer (by the way, it's never too late, you can always listen to this bomb, which we always have the chorus in mind). But it looks like this particular year has still brought some positives to The Trusted. Time to write, in particular. As Tom, the singer, told us, he took on the challenge of writing one song a day. And here is the band with a huge stock of sixty songs, enough to ensure a fantastic return on stage as soon as possible. I have heard thousands of songs, and bands. But I have always had a special affection for The Trusted. There is in them the spark that many bands lack: authenticity, and above all: emotions! Tom's voice gives the band a huge advantage: a unique vocal signature and identity. When you hear this voice, you can immediately say with certainty: "Oh, this is The Trusted!". And that, in the world of music, is priceless. "Criminals" is an astonishing track, because it conveys incredible emotions, from the first seconds. There is something fantastic about these twenty seconds of intro. They set the atmosphere and set the scene. And the song is reminiscent of other bands that we particularly love, like The Killers (wonderfully recently covered by Cattle & Cane, by the way). An emotion that grows as the song develops, and this is what the song is all about. Emotion. As the band announces, it's probably their "most emotive song todate". And they are right. They have taken a step. One more step towards excellence and mastery. The last part of the song will convince you that from now on, you will have to rely on The Trusted in the landscape of indie music.

The Trusted's point of view :

“The most emotional song we’ve ever written”, the song is a combination of bittersweet emotions and feelings. In the process of creating the track the band found themselves stripping the song back to its bones, allowing space to experiment with new electronic textures and sounds. The song is about "loss, heartbreak, guilt and self-absorption” continuing, “It’s a sad and honest track, but at the same, it’s kind of beautifully uplifting.”

Biography :

Arriving into adulthood is a bitter-sweet experience.Abandoned childhood fascinations make way for tough life lessons, sometimes too tough. These are central themes in The Trusted’s growing catalogue. Although The Trusted only formed in mid-2016, their relationship dates back to their early days at school. First to develop a bond over music were guitarist Dale and lead singer Tom, forming a writing partnership that shared a common appreciation of a strong melody, which is evident throughout the atmospheric, edgy pop they create. It wasn’t long before the duo was joined by Fin on bass and Dave on drums. The band shared an enthusiasm for 21st century Brit-rock lead by the likes of Catfish and the Bottlemen and The 1975, as well as classic late ‘70s new-wave icons such as The Clash and Elvis Costello. That fusion of punk energy and post-punk storytelling along with an ear for a seriously commercial hook made an indelible yet subtle watermark on The Trusted’s musical output. Possessing an irresistible charm, an undeniable wit,and an infectious personality shining through their adventurous brand of youthful punked-up indie rock,The Trusted are both a refreshing tonic, and a barrage of fireworks rolled into one. Seamlessly switching from mellow, artfully constructed melodic thoughtfulness into wild, explosive moments of raucous brilliance, there’s a surprise around every corner within The Trusted’s music and songwriting, all executed with an undeniable measure of passion and grit.

And we can speak of real discovery, and even of crush. I immediately hooked with their album "Going Home" which is full of nuggets all more brilliant than the others. Today, they're back with a new single from this album, and this is probably the more emotional track of the record. And Tiny Fighter are really careful with their appearance. Their music sounds professional. So their music videos also need to look professional. And they do! They filmed this one in a old quarry, just outside of Stockholm. And the result is amazing. The band even laughs at it, talking about Therese's "stunts", and reassuring us: she's okay. Fine! And fortunately, haha! The song is about different questions we ask ourselves in a relationship: "If I put all my trust in you, will you deceive me?". With incredibly soulful vocals and a powerful and moving melody, Tiny Fighter succeeds, once again, in seducing us from the first to the last note. A masterpiece.

We missed this extraordinary voice from Brighton (UK)! While his single 'Maze' is still playing on repeat in our mind, I'm delighted to make you discover 'Restrain', his new single, announcing an EP to be released soon. Dessie Magee is one of my favorite artists, because he always manages to give us chills thanks to tenfold emotions. And the overall structure of 'Restrain' made my arm hairs stand upright again. Always the right impactful phrase, where it is needed : "All of this means you don't know yourself". And then the full band comes, powerful electric guitar riffs, wonderful drums, and a huge wave of emotion. And what's always amazing about him is this ability to switch from one emotion to another, and from one atmosphere to another. While the song starts slowly, to the sound of a delicate acoustic guitar ... The end of the first chorus will take you on a whole new dimension. And the intensity and the emotions continue to rise, crescendo, until a breathtaking final part. The ending is as powerful as it is unexpected. Fireworks for the ears, and above all ... for the chills. Dessie Magee's magic always works: when you get to the end of the song, your mouth is wide open, like "Woah! What just happened in my ears?!" The artist offered me an early listen to his upcoming EP and I'm still blown away by this incredible power in his voice. Sometimes you don't have to be ashamed of your feelings, so I'm telling you clearly: this song brought me unexpected tears. Who's next ?

Restrain is about the discipline we all sometimes lack, some more than others. It's about watching someone you care about destroy themselves.

Biography:

Brighton based Dessie Magee, hails from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Growing up Dessie found it difficult staying out of trouble and avoiding regular run-ins with the police. Eventually he began singing in the heavy music scene, a well timed saving grace and positive outlet. But, over this resulted in Dessie having to undergo major throat surgery, a result of which he was unable to speak for months after. Despite the injury, Dessie was determined to pursue his musical career and after a long period of rehabilitation he began learning to speak again, and eventually was able to sing again. Many people in this situation would rule out a future in music but his persistence and passion for music gave him the ambition to strive for success and begin his new journey. With a diverse musical background and a new found resilience, Dessie’s music took a completely different direction.

Like a big wave of nostalgia that hits us. We remember perfectly, in 2007, having discovered Unkle Bob in a TV show called 'Kyle XY', where several of their songs had been used. And in particular the excellent 'Swans', which remains to this day the biggest success of the band. Rick has continued to keep the name 'Unkle Bob' alive ever since, and here we are in 2020, the band is reforming to offer us this new gem. A superb folk rock song, powerful and sublime, to put stars in our eyes and emotions in our ears. The track is accompanied by a music video that is both sad and funny. Sad because the weather is not on their side. But funny because no matter what, even in the pouring rain, our favorite Scots keep playing. And we missed those Scots! For fans of the first hour, a special 15th Anniversary Edition re-release of their debut EP is coming soon, and we can't wait to hear their next releases. We are like kids at the foot of the tree on December 25th. Thanks Unkle Bob. Thanks to you, it's already Christmas.

Unkle Bob's point of view:

The gentle hum of an organ, undulating cello and repetition of a simple piano figure suggest the discreet unveiling of an epic, indie-rock oriented anthem. Singer Rick paints a reflective picture "cos everytime I fall, there's nothing there at all, I wonder did I hit the bottom yet" it's a homage to 2020, the feeling of free-falling, and the redemption of friendship.

Biography:

Originally formed in 2004, Unkle Bob are an indie-folk-rock quintet from the UK, their legacy was two albums, Sugar and Spite (2006) and Shockwaves (2010). Meeting in the early 00s in Tchai Ovna, a student-frequented Glasgow tearoom, the 5-piece were taken under the wing of James gtr/violinist, Saul Davies who co-produced much of the material on their 2006 debut. They became a hit in the US with tracks featuring in TV dramas including Grey’s Anatomy, CSI Miami and My Sassy Girl. After relocating to London in 2006, Unkle Bob MK1 finally called it a day in 2011. Singer-songwriter and frontman Rick Webster revived the Unkle Bob name releasing a 3rd album entitled Embers in July 2014 followed by a string of solo mini-albums (The Highest Mountains & The Deepest Sea in 2016 and When You Were Awake - EP with The Little Birds in 2019). In 2020, the group announced reunion plans, tour dates and a special 15th Anniversary Edition re-release of their debut EP. In November they launched a new single, 'Safety Net' recorded remotely during lockdown, their first material together in 9 years. The release heralds the return of original members, guitarist Stuart Cartwright, drummer Ron Yeadon, keyboard player Geoff Widdowson, and bass player Chloe Peacock back to the fold reuniting them with singer, Rick Webster.
