When you hear the playful guitar intro to "Night Shift", it's almost hard to realize that this is The Satellite Station. Used to rather dark and sad universes (and he wrote it himself on his Spotify because he describes himself as "an optimist writing mostly sad songs"), Travis surprises. Again.

"Night Shift" describes a world that seems to turn upside down. And given the current world situation, we can indeed ask ourselves many questions. If you feel like you're walking on a rope, this song might speak to you. Like most songs from The Satellite Station, by the way. Because Travis has this incredible power to reach people where it is needed, bringing up various subjects, very varied. Nowadays, most songs you can hear on the radio are bland, and over 90% of them are about a romantic relationship. Our artist from Ohio always manages to think outside the box to give us a different experience, as he did at the end of last year with "Shelter", a ballad that, as a hidden message, talked about the deportation of the Jews to the camps of concentration.

"Night Shift" is like an invitation to disconnect and let go. Moreover, the positive spirit of the song shines through, from the first seconds, and these positive waves keep growing minute after minute. Always with his warm voice, which immediately puts you in confidence, Travis draws the parallel between this world which turns upside down and those who work at night: "You feel like you're walking on a high wire burning the rope at both ends, till you catch fire ". This is exactly what happened to my GF, who worked nights in a bakery without being able to rest during the day until she imploded. I reassure you, she has since quit this job and does what she loves by working with children.

When I tell you that Travis songs can speak to a lot of people, I'm not lying to you. This new single is perfect to give you the motivation you need after the holidays to get back to work. A very bright 20th feature on IMC for Travis to celebrate his 100K monthly listeners on Spotify. He did it.

Added to our Main Spotify Playlist, our "IMC Family" playlist, and played daily on Indie Music Center's Radio.

Lyrics

World is upside down

Light and dark have flipped around

You can’t help but feel like you’ve been missing out

You just hope there’s someone who’s been missing you

Visitors gone home

So you walk the halls alone

Everyone you know has been asleep for hours

You just wish there’s someone who could talk to you

You feel like you’re walking on a high wire

Burning the rope at both ends, till you catch fire

Cause you’ve been working on the night shift

Sleeping through the day, burning through the night

Working on the night shift

Oh, you feel like your whole life keeps

Passing you by

It’s passing you by

Passing you by

It’s passing you by

Pain inside your chest

Lay in bed but get no rest

Having too much coffee and too little sleep

Kind of feels like everyone’s been watching you

You feel like you’re walking on a high wire

Burning the rope at both ends, till you catch fire

Cause you’ve been working on the night shift

Sleeping through the day, burning through the night

Working on the night shift

Oh, you feel like your whole life keeps

Passing you by

It’s passing you by

Passing you by

It’s passing you by

You feel like you’re walking on a high wire

Burning the rope at both ends, till you catch fire

Cause you’ve been working on the night shift

Sleeping through the day, burning through the night

Working on the night shift

Oh, you feel like your whole life keeps

Passing you by
