The Nineteen Twenty - Fallen Angel

November 08, 2020

Our thoughts about the song :

How about a folk ballad that ends in apotheosis? The Nineteen Twentey, a duo composed of Colin Donnell and Brian Usifer, released their debut album 'Chaos + Cocktails', from which this track is taken. And what a song! We love the gradual rise of emotions, thanks to a beautiful crescendo. The vocals are delicious, and take us back to the roots of folk sound. Poetry in the writing, delicacy in the production, the song seduced us from the first notes. And its breathtaking finale convinced us that we had to present them to you. Although they have chosen this song to come to us, do not hesitate to listen to their album, which is full of nuggets and treasures. Well built, alternating genres, sometimes a little electronic beats in 'Perfect Manhattan', for example, or a little more relaxed, like Imagine Dragons, in 'Aviation'. We don't have a crush among these 7 songs. They are all good. 'Fallen Angel' is included on our "Indie Folk" playlist, and of course, you will now hear this amazing track on the Indie Music Radio.

The Nineteen Twenty's point of view :

This song is both a desperate cry for help and a boisterous thank you. A person struggling with their own head and heart during a time of loneliness knowing they can turn to a loved one for support.

Biography :

The Nineteen Twenty formed out of a need for connection. A conversation backstage at a theater resulted in a collaboration that was brought to life remotely during the COVID-19 shutdown. Over four months, the duo wrote, recorded, and produced songs without ever being in the same room together, using the magic of the internet to create a sound that is a mix of both their unique musical styles and sensibilities. The result is their first album, Chaos + Cocktails. It is a blend of Americana songwriting, catchy hooks, and bedroom-pop production that connects the familiar with the ethereal. The songs discuss all things love, loss, anxiety, despair, and hope. Things that are all part of the up and down, day to day swings of our times.
