Taji - Becoming Me

October 28, 2017

/!\ IMPORTANT: We have to apologize, as the artist totally removed this song from all the platforms without thinking about all the blogs who wrote about him. So you can't listen to the song anymore and we're very disappointed. This post was written in 2017.

Hello music lovers! We hope your weekend is going well. It can only go well because it lasts an extra hour. An hour you can use to discover some beautiful music, perhaps.

Today, we're focusing on Taji. Taji is the nickname of Elijah Jones, who hails from Kentucky. In fact, when he was a child, his older brother couldn't pronounce his name, so he gave him this nickname. A multi-talented artist, Taji is a singer-songwriter and producer. Today's song is called "Becoming Me."

The voice reminds us a bit of Raphael, a famous French artist. But much better. A discreet reverb adds depth to this weary voice, and the sound of a natural guitar (yes, because we're tired of all these synths nowadays and these industrial things that distort music) gradually leads us to a catchy chorus. Subtle but harmonious backing vocals. Then, from 2 minutes onward, we get into the heart of the matter: the rhythm sets in. A calmer bridge soothes us and plunges us into a somewhat long but delightful wait, eager to discover what comes next.

We end beautifully with a powerful final chorus, as we like it, and even more emotionally charged backing vocals. When we reach the end of the song, we have only one regret: that it's already over.

Thank you, Elijah, it was so good!
