Silver Cup - Annabel Lee

March 18, 2021

Yesterday we were in Bounty, Utah, to introduce you to Cody Francis. It looks like there are some great indie vibes in Utah right now, so let's go back there today!

Here is Silver Cup, who are actually ... siblings. And Hadley and Logan Nelson wowed us instantly.

Yes, from the first seconds of the intro of "Annabel Lee", we understand that we are going to be dealing with a very catchy melody.

The vocals then make their appearance, sometimes managed by Hadley, sometimes by Logan. The mix of the two voices is absolutely fantastic. Our two artists master their voices to perfection, and their high notes are impressive. If like me, you have a lower bass voice, the chorus, so high, is impossible to sing unless you use helium.

Annabel Lee is from a poem by Edgar Allen Poe, which inspired our duo to create this indie-pop jewel: "There was something wildly romantic and tragic about this poem. It spoke of the sea, the beauty of the heavens, and the torture Poe felt of losing his sweet "Annabel Lee". Hadley immediately hopped up and said let's write a song about a modern-day Annabel Lee - two lovers who have
become estranged, and realize it was too late for their love."

A poem that brings this indie-pop anthem to life and makes us want to shake our heads and sing along. And when we discovered the song, we were plagued by a strange syndrome. It was impossible to stop. Like an addiction. We must have streamed the song about ten times in a row.

Whether in the production, the vocal harmonies, the melody, everything is perfect in this single. He grabbed us easily and we're sure you'll get caught too. You'll have it in your head for hours. We will have warned you.

Included in our "Indie Pop" Spotify playlist.
