Our thoughts
Owning a home. Living on your own terms. Taking care of the people you love in a quiet place. That used to be normal. Now it sounds like a distant goal.
This song will probably hit even harder for listeners in the US, especially now. With the dollar falling fast and the future looking more unstable by the day, a track like this feels like a quiet response to the feeling of watching the world shift because of one power-hungry clown making reckless decisions. Olivia doesn’t scream it. She doesn’t even have to, if we want to be honest...
In this indie-folk masterpiece, Olivia Reid speaks for an entire generation who grew up thinking this kind of life would be possible. The song was written in the Polish countryside, and everything about it feels more grounded. No filters and no fake hope. She sings about land, trees, fresh water, two dogs, a place for her daughter to dance, and the freedom to grow without pressure.
This is not a fantasy, and it's something many of us thought we would have by now! But the world changed. Prices exploded. Wages stayed still. And now even dreaming of a garden feels unrealistic.
Her voice is warm and steady. There is comfort in the way she sings, even when the words describe something lost. It creates a contrast that is really stunning!
Also, we noticed she shares the same last name as Jessie Reid, whom we have loved for years and still admire. We hope Olivia follows a similar path!

Lyrics
Markets crash, the world floods
The change comes fast in a rush
I wish I had a place of escape
Long windy road to get there
And no one around to care if
We sing our hearts out ‘till midnight we’re free
I want a home
Maybe land I could own
Surrounded by trees
That bury me in green
‘Cause I only grow,
With space to roam
Dance floor for our daughter
And plenty of fresh water
Shady sweets from the apple tree
Two pups to look out for us
We’ve got one car, it’s old pickup truck
Oh it sounds kind of perfect to me
‘Cause I want a home
Maybe land I could own
Surrounded by trees
That bury me in green
‘Cause I only grow,
With space to roam
(Ba ba ba ba)
Is it as sad as it seems, like there’s nothing left for me?
Like we somehow missed the window to earn these simple things,
While they hand out planes like candy to the rich men in the sky,
Is it too much to ask to live, not just survive?
I want a home
On land that I own
Surround me trees
When I die just,
Bury me in green
‘Cause I only grow,
With space to let go
Oh I only grow,
With space to roam
