Our thoughts
A love song on IMC? Shocking, I know. (Yes, I’m being sarcastic.) We’re suckers for songs that make your skin tingle and your heart melt. If it’s honest and sung with real emotion, we’re already halfway in love with it.
Jason Piquette knows exactly how to do that. After "Homeless" in 2021 and "Roam" in 2022, here he is again, setting up camp on IMC for the third time. And this time, he brought what might be one of the most sincere love songs we’ve had the chance to feature. The kind that doesn’t try too hard. No fireworks, no flashy tricks. Just a voice, a guitar, and words that feel like they were written while staring at the ceiling at 3 am, trying to put feelings into sentences.
Jason’s voice has that little something you won’t forget. At times, it might remind you of Passenger, especially if you’ve ever cried in the rain with headphones on. His songwriting always hits the right note (no pun intended), and this one is no exception.
You hit play, and suddenly you're no longer in your room or in front of your laptop. You’re part of the story. The kind of story that makes you believe, even for three minutes, that love might actually be a good idea after all.
The lyrics feel like pages torn from your own notebook. And the melody? It’s going to follow you all summer. You’ve been warned. We just launched our special Love Songs playlist, and this one claimed its spot without even knocking.
Jason Piquette's take on "From the Ground"
I wrote From the Ground for my wife while she was away on a solo trip for the first time since we got married. It’s about how much my marriage has shaped me and changed my life, it’s also become about how my kids have opened my heart in ways I never expected. It has a warm, inviting feel along with tasteful layers and I can’t wait for people to hear it.
A bit more about Jason Piquette
Born in south Florida and based in West Palm Beach, Jason Piquette is a bold storyteller unafraid to explore and unmask the topics closest to his heart. His upcoming project, produced by Tyler Neil Johnson (John Vincent III, Austin Basham, Joshua Hyslop), showcases his most dynamic and fully realized songs to date.

Lyrics
I’m not the falling kind
I sure didn’t have this in mind
But then without warning you came along
I was yours from that moment on
I was fine with being alone
I didn’t think I was capable
Of having somebody’s heart to hold
My dear you opened up my soul
I thought love just came and went
Like the waves on the beach
Now you’re stuck with me
Like the white on your teeth
I was in a cage the you broke me free
I went from the ground to the clouds
And we’re never coming down
I asked you to marry me
With you in that dress I could hardly breath
We vowed to never give up the fight
My dear I give you my life
Not an hour you’re not in my mind
The love that you carry’s so rare to find
I’ll never deserve to call you mine
You are the greatest gift in life
The greatest gift
I thought love just came and went
Like the waves on the beach
Now you’re stuck with me
Like the white on your teeth
I was in a cage, then you broke me free
I went from the ground to the clouds
And we’re never coming down
