Our thoughts

Have you ever faced health problems that affected everyone around you? This is our case. When our founder's girlfriend had cancer, we had to re-evaluate our priorities. Today, she is doing well, her short hair has grown long again, and we can even tell you that today, she has become the most beautiful mother in the world, but perhaps we are not 100% objective.

This is precisely what 'Caterpillar', Fiji Blue's new single, is about, as he explains to us:

"It's a redolent poem to my wife Natasha after a year of health struggles and rebirth".

A lovely indie-folk ballad, which we initially believed to be 100% acoustic, but you'll see that the production evolves wonderfully to give us the necessary chills with a few additional instruments, but we won't spoil everything for you.

Just enough to tell you that there is always a little light, even in the darkest tunnels.

And if you liked this song, know that Fiji Blue's discography is full of little gems since 2019, especially on the album "Glide" released last year. We can only advise you to listen carefully to all these little treasures!

A bit more about Fiji Blue

The story of Fiji Blue owes a debt to both coasts, but his genre-spanning sound is truly global. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2019 with a major in songwriting, Phoenix-raised Trevor Dering relocated to Los Angeles. There, the Southern California cool of Fiji Blue became fully realized, swirling bedroom pop, indie, house, easy listening, and R&B into a sun-kissed daydream.

Glide (his latest album) is Dering’s strongest artistic statement to date, mourning endings and practicing love and gratitude for what remains with potent lyricism and a reassuring voice that listeners won’t soon forget. There’s a palatable emotion reverberating through every note, chord, and melody of Glide, balancing both the pain and affection that inspired them. At its most heartbreaking, it’s a rumination on those who never really leave us, the faint imprints that linger long after lives go their separate ways; at its most uplifting (the emotions Dering prefers to focus on), it’s rich with gratitude for his friends and family, a future full of hope and possibility. “I love sad music, and if I could only write sad music, I would” he says with a laugh. “The thing I really love about Fiji Blue is having uplifting harmonic and production elements alongside lyrics that sit more in that melancholy world. Sometimes it’s nice to find that middle ground.”

Lyrics

You’re a caterpillar
This pain won’t last forever
Most good things take time
So just close your eyes
You’ll get out and fly

It’s okay you’re changing
You’ll turn out amazing
Cause when you see your wings
And the color they bring
You’ll understand why
You’ll understand why
(You’ll understand why)
You’ll understand why

So get out and fly
You’re going to be fine
One inch at a time
You’ll grow into you

So get out and fly
You’re going to be fine
One inch at a time
You’ll grow into you

You’re a caterpillar
This pain won’t last forever
Most good things take time
So just close your eyes
You’ll get out and fly
