We love to introduce you to debut artists. Because making music is an incredible adventure. We have often talked about it on IMC, music is the best remedy for all situations. Because no matter what situation you find yourself in, there is bound to be a song to help you.
"Scars Within Us" is Indy Mathews' debut single, and explores the feelings one can experience after a disappointment in love, as he wonders in the chorus: "do we have what it takes to carry that weight?"
I've always been drawn to male singers with deep, imposing voices, like Luke White. And Indy Mathews has that voice that is able to give you chills in the bass on the verses and in the higher tones on the choruses. His vocal ease is quite disconcerting. His voice, perfectly controlled, also allows him to measure emotions with millimeter precision.
The artist comes from the Netherlands (like Sven Ross, Roos Meijer, Charmplay, Len Dreams, or Bonetired) and moved to London in 2019 to give new impetus to his musical career. These Dutch people really have a little something extra that I don't understand. But I love it!
As for the melody, I really like the little details like this fabulous but discreet second guitar just before the first chorus. A chorus that also benefits from magnificent vocal harmonies.
The melody is really catchy and the hook of the chorus will make you sing along quite easily. The production, carried by an efficient bass line, is of exceptional quality for a debut single.
I think we're going to have to add Indy Mathews to our artists to watch. He could still surprise us in the future.
