Trisha & Tara - You Used to Be

At Indie Music Center, we like to give you pretty surprises.

Our two talents of the day are 12 and 14 years old. I promise, this is not a joke.

Trisha & Tara are from Boston and to say the least, their talent is exceptional. In Europe, we are used to hearing children sing on shows like "The Voice Kids". But to be completely honest, I've never heard such a level of quality.

These young girls master vocal harmonies to perfection and have an innate sense of melody.

For this song, we wanted to write about something that others can relate to; friendship, love/break-up, separation and hope. We thought that the idea of a special someone who you loved the most, is not around anymore, would relate to many people going through a hard time.

You guessed it: they write their songs themselves. And they also play piano, guitar, and ukulele. Unbelievable. Such maturity is rare!

They already have a great experience of the scene, having participated in "School of Rock" in Chicago, performing classics from The Beatles, Queen, or Led Zeppelin. Knowing these artists at such a young age is already exceptional. Ask young people of that age today if they know a song by these artists by heart. Ok, finally don't ask, you already know the answer.

"You Used to Be" is their debut single, released last December. Yes, I did say "debut single", you are not dreaming. When you listen to this song, you can't imagine it's their first. It feels like they already have tons of albums behind them, and an incredible experience and professionalism.

Trisha and Tara amaze us with their naturalness, their obvious complicity that shines through the song, and their freshness.

We all need to dream, especially given the complicated times we all know. I'll be honest: I already dream of seeing them everywhere. They deserve it.

Included in our "Indie Pop" Spotify playlist.
