Hello music lovers. It's been a while since we've treated you to a great pop-rock sound that really packs a punch. Well, that changes today with a fresh release straight from the United States.
The Forgotten Art is the brainchild of David Weaver, who wanted to return to music after an 8-year hiatus. "Music had almost entirely disappeared from my life. After being completely captivated and obsessed throughout all my formative years, I had done nothing musical for 8 years. When I realized it, I was angry. Angry at letting go, not seeing the break coming. How could I let this huge part of me slip away for so long?". But he made the right decision: to come back.
Joined by Kevin Barringer on guitar and Jeremy Webster on bass, he founded The Forgotten Art. "Lost Arts" is their very first single, and it's also their first success. Everything about this song is good, nothing to throw away. A modest piano in the opening, and a voice that immediately lets us know it's going to be clean. Yes, you can hear it. At 1:12, the vocal soar. We realize that despite 8 years away from music, we're not dealing with amateurs. Clearly. "In another life, we throw it all away." This chorus is an anthem that invites us to let loose. Sometimes, letting go is a good thing. And with this track, we have the motivation we need. Until the last second, we enjoy every bit of it.
The song is 4:47 long, but we almost want to say it was too short. And of course, we can only thank David for having the great idea to get back into it!
