EDIT 2024: We had a hard time finding this song as it was removed by the artist since our original article of 2017. Halfway Hero rebranded to Casey Truman then rebranded to Mixtape Me. That's a good example of a weird promotion strategy: renaming your project 2 times without warning all the people who supported your music. But hey, that's life!

Here's Halfway Hero, whose real name is Casey Truman.

He comes from Provo, Utah. So, nothing surprising. Indeed, he's not the first artist from Provo that we've fallen for. And he won't be the last. Apparently, this city is a real hotbed of talent. Cinders, Michael Barrow & The Tourists, Kambree... And now, Halfway Hero. Something must be happening there...

This reminds us a bit of the early days of Green Day and our adolescence when we used to blast it in our room in the '90s, not even hearing our mom shouting and begging us to lower the volume. In fact, Halfway Hero describes himself as halfway between Green Day and Shawn Mendes. That's not wrong. Right on target. And we love it.

It's fresh, it's full of energy. Of course, it recalls Green Day and other trendy late '90s bands, OK. But, man, it's so good, and it feels so good to the ears.

Turn up the volume and treat yourself. The melody is super easy to remember, and we promise, it will stick in your head. You might even be tempted to use and abuse the replay button.

And since we're nice this weekend and have the time, we'll let you take the time to linger on a second track, which is worth it too, "It's Not Too Late." It's true. It's never too late to treat yourself.
