Alex Ohm - Joy

It's been a long time since we've had a real indie-rock joy anthem. And this one is aptly named.

"Joy" is Alex Ohm's new single, and the artist himself recognizes it: "I think it's the happiest song I've ever written! I usually tend to write with some sort of underlying synoecism in my songs, but this is a real feel-good, summer song ".

Absolutely! A perfect Summer soundtrack, that makes you want to move and dance, with uplifting lyrics. And that's what people need after 18 months of restrictions. Very sunny and bright, the song lasts exactly three minutes. Three minutes of sun to fill your entire body with vitamin C.

What seduced us the most about this track, besides its catchy melody, are the incredible vocals. Such a voice is not forgotten, and can only encourage you to wiggle your hips. Accompanied by Ste Ashford (Guitar), Hannah Maiden (Bass) and Producer, and Ryan Pinson on drums, Alex has created an incredible musical universe, between poetry and joie de vivre.

The vocal harmonies are more and more present and strong as we go along, and "Joy" ends as we expected: with an incredible feeling of emptiness when everything stops, which makes you want to listen again.

With such a song, it's obvious that Alex and his friends are going to set the Dark Horse in Birmingham on fire on July 23.

Lyrics

Same time, same place, same job, different day.
Get in line and daydream. There must be something for me.
I just keep sinking. I just keep thinking.

Because I feel caught up in a new kind of low.
Like I’m losing my mind, like I’m losing control.
There’s got to be something somewhere.
There’s got to be something out there.

In a world that seems so grey, you light the sky and you paint the day.
JOY.

We can hand the pictures on the wall
Wait for the quake till they break and they fall.
Just a little piece of mind. Take it in your stride.

There you go again putting yourself down,
Just like a king in a broken crown.
Pick yourself up again.
Pick yourself up. Pick yourself up!

In a world that seems so grey, you light the sky and you paint the day. JOY.
I don’t wanna be your anchor, wanna be your buoy.
I wanna feed you love. I wanna taste the joy. JOY.

For far too long, we’ve been dancing in the dark.
I feel I’ve found the fuse and your spark.

In a world that seems so grey, you light the sky and you paint the day. JOY.
I don’t wanna be your anchor, wanna be your buoy.
I wanna feed you love. I wanna taste the joy. JOY.
I don’t wanna be your anchor, wanna be your buoy.
I wanna feed you love. I wanna taste the joy. JOY.
