Our thoughts about the song :

Ben Orrvick, aka Kahone Concept, comes back with this new single, out today. 3 months after the incredible "Maybe", he sets the level even higher with this new release. There's always a part of mystery in his songs. As you never know how it will end up. It starts with a simple piano intro and builds slowly until becoming a huge pop ballad, with powerful vocal harmonies and awesome waves of emotions. With heartbreaking lyrics and honest vocals, the artist proves, once again, that he perfectly masters emotions, in a very creative way. The bridge is quite surprising, before a moving final part, as we love them! The one-man band still surprises us... every time! And we can't wait for more! Available in our "Powerful emotions & Chills" playlist on Spotify.

Kahone Concept's point of view :

It was originally just a practice piece I wrote for fun. I sat down at the piano and wrote and pressed record on my voice memo and made an entire song on the spot. I played it back and thought it was cool and so I made a demo for fun. The very end of the song I really really liked and was like "dang that could make a KC song". I used the very last line in the demo and then that turned into the verses for the version you know! At the time, I had a weird relationship with one my good friends, and it got complicated and ended poorly, so I wrote this song about it. I usually don’t write about that kind of things, but I wasn’t going to use it for KC. I showed my friends the song and they were like "Dude! We actually like that on you should use it!". I was like "hmmmm" and started playing it at shows... and it got some good feedback! So I hit the studio and made a full production and batta boom batta bing "Intricated". I called it "Intricated" because my friend and I always used to listen to the song "Delicate" by Damien Rice, and she would always say that our relationship was complicated and delicate, so I used intricate, and kinda played on words and came up with "Intricated".

Biography:

Kahone Concept officially began in 2015, but the foundations of this Pittsburgh-based alternative pop/rock band were laid long before then. 23-year-old Ben Orrvick taught himself how to play a variety of instruments throughout his childhood, but as he’d struggled to find people to start a band with, he took matters into his own hands and began learning how to create music independently at the age of 16. After spending a while as a bedroom artist, Orrvick made the decision to self-release CLOUDS, an EP written, recorded, produced and mixed entirely on his own. Thus, Kahone Concept was born: a project he named after an instrument he made in woodshop class. The name, Orrvick explains, fits the ethos that surrounds his music: “it’s important to find significance even in the smallest of things; we each find our own significance. It’s what gives us purpose.” CLOUDS quickly began to gain traction online, with several indie stations picking up the closing track, “Silent Sounds”. Since then, Kahone Concept has grown exponentially in the Pittsburgh music scene: critics have repeatedly noted the individuality of the one-man band’s sound, which blends “dazzling synths with immersive layers of other instruments”. With the release of their sophomore EP, Towers, the band gained further recognition: it was nominated for “Best EP of 2017” by Pittsburgh music magazine Sound Scene Express, and the band was voted “2017 Pittsburgh’s Best Pop/Rock Band” by the Pittsburgh City Paper. Their live shows have become known for their high energy and interactivity with the crowds, which Kahone Concept continues to draw with the release of the new single, titled “Intricated” available now.
