If you're an avid IMC reader, you couldn't miss Thomas LaVine. The artist joined the IMC Family in January 2021. Two years already! And since then, he never ceases to amaze us, since this is his 12th feature on IMC.

He has been playing music his whole life and started writing songs when he was 16 years old. He takes influences from a wide variety of bands and artists, from classics like John Denver to modern favorites such as Andrew Belle and Noah Gundersen. He has developed a unique and authentic style that creates a space for emotion and honesty to take shape in a new way, and each song is even better than the last.

His latest release, "Idle Daylight," out today, from a 6-track EP including the 5 previous singles, is a folk song that showcases his talents as a musician and songwriter. The song builds over time until an epic ending that gives goosebumps, of which Thomas has the secret. LaVine explains that "Idle Daylight" is a song that resulted from him exploring what his lost faith and spirituality mean to him: "In simple terms, the song is almost a rediscovery of something lost, even if it looks very different than before", as Thomas said.

The lyrics of the song are evocative and thought-provoking, with lines like "I'm on fire, thinking about yesterday" and "The daylight idled, burned without a trace" painting a vivid picture of the emotions behind the song, right from the start. The lyrics are poignant and relatable, speaking to the struggles of faith, trust and love, and the desire for redemption.

The repetition of the phrase "Would you ever come back to me?" in the chorus highlights the longing and desire for redemption and reconciliation. The lyrics "I needed love, you had my trust" and "I needed faith, what's left to take" convey the vulnerability and raw emotions of the song.

"Idle Daylight" is a beautifully crafted song that is sure to resonate with listeners. As always, Thomas' emotive vocals and meaningful lyrics paired with the dynamic instrumentation make for a truly powerful listening experience. The song's genre is folk and it's built around the guitar and drums, which creates a sense of urgency that complements the lyrics. And nothing is left to chance, our artist being a talented producer who can spend hours on small details, sometimes barely perceptible to uninitiated ears.

His evolution in just three years is already awesome and impressive. This new masterpiece is available now on all streaming platforms and it's definitely worth a listen.
