I think I've always secretly dreamed of hearing my favorite instrument, the piano, play an important role in a Thomas LaVine song. Today, he makes that dream come true with his new single “Black Bear.”
After being trolled for a long time (I assure you, he's making fun of it too) because many of his songs contained references to water in their titles, Thomas LaVine continues his musical odyssey always linked to nature. As proof, Black Bear is the second single to have a bear on the artwork (after Giants in 2022). After the water and the flowers, back to the animals! But if like Thomas and me, you are a nature lover, each release will allow you to reconnect with what the Earth offers us for free every day.
Just the intro can transport you to the middle of a forest if you close your eyes and focus a little. But you will then realize that the landscape is not always idyllic, in a world ravaged by forest fires, smoke, heat, is the bear still in its place? “Oh black bear, are you aware?” What about us? Are we aware? Are we still in our place in this increasingly maddening world? A double-meaning song that makes you think a lot: “Do black bears hide an open mind or are we first?”, Thomas sings in the second verse.
This song is thought-provoking until the end and ends with “Oh black bear find some peace of mind inside the night”. Yes, at night, human activity slows down and the bear can then enjoy its environment, and we, humans, can think a little about who we are.
Genius of words, and maestro of instruments, Thomas LaVine once again proves his limitless talent, and we can't wait to hear this upcoming EP, already announced by the artist as a sequel to "Between the Good & What I Want". Today is the 15th feature from the IMC Family artist, and we know it won't be the last as his music has continued to make us dream for 4 years.
