Philippa Zawe - Drive All Night

February 10, 2023

Introducing Philippa Zawe, a rising talent in the music industry hailing from Birmingham, UK, just like Dom Malin (member of the IMC Family). With Ugandan heritage, Zawe brings a unique perspective to her music, weaving together letters to loved ones, prayers, manifestos, stories, and contradictions in her lyrics. She released her debut EP In September 2017, "Road of Hope," which tells a powerful tale of loss, grief, and ultimately, hope found along the way. The EP was met with critical acclaim and solidified Zawe as an artist to watch. Following the success of her debut EP, in May 2018, Zawe released a full band EP titled "Disadvantaged". Aside from her music career, Zawe also shared a podcast called "Greater, Stronger, Wiser".

After a musical comeback in November 2022 with "Would You Lean", she's now landing on IMC with "Drive All Night", a heart-wrenching folk song that showcases Zawe's emotive vocals and storytelling abilities.

With lyrics like "Now the silence is a reminder of you" and "I would drive all night just to tell you how I feel", the song is sure to resonate with listeners who have experienced heartbreak and longing. We were touched by the vulnerability and authenticity that Philippa brings to this song. It is a reminder that sometimes it is okay to not be okay and the beauty of having someone to talk to in those moments.

One of the things that stood out to us most about the track was Philippa's powerful and emotive vocals. Her voice is raw and genuine, making it easy for listeners to connect with the emotions she conveys in her lyrics.

The instrumentation on the track is also noteworthy, it remains simple with just an acoustic guitar and great background vocals to create a sound that is both captivating and memorable. As Philippa Zawe continues to make a name for herself in the indie music industry, it's clear that her music will continue to be a powerful source of inspiration and solace for many.

With her unique blend of genres and themes, she is a refreshing voice in the folk scene, and we can't wait to see what she has in store for IMC in the future.

Reach out to Philippa Zawe
