In January 2023, a UFO by the name of Olive Klug landed its spaceship in front of IMC's window. A small being had then descended, within its hands, a single called "Coming of Age". We then fell in love with the artist and their whole musical universe!

A few months later, here we are in August, and after a few months of break, we are back. Facing an impressive list of submissions, Olive Klug's name quickly caught our attention. With of course this inevitable question: "Is Olive Klug going to slap us in the face again?".

So... How can I tell you. Not only did we take a huge slap in the face, but we literally fell off the chair. "Taking Up Space" is from their debut album "Don't You Dare Make Me Jaded", released today via our friends at Nettwerk. And the least we can say is that this single is a real bomb.

Composed of an essentially acoustic first part, the song gains momentum little by little until a bridge with a slightly muffled voice. Before ending with an explosive finale, as if we opened a box held too long under pressure, Olive Klug's voice returns to normal to sing the title phrase "I'm taking up space". And this title becomes real, the last minute of the song is absolutely huge. Yes, the artist takes up space, but damn, how good is it!

Olive Klug was a little caterpillar just waiting to hatch. "Taking Up Space" is a bit of a summary of this long path and process. Moreover, the song opens with two rather surprising questions: "How did I get there? Who did I trick?". The answer is simple: with talent, you can do anything.

Sharp writing, sometimes a little stained with blood (because yes, daring means getting hurt sometimes), so imbued with sincerity! At first glance, as we mentioned at the beginning of the article, Olive Klug seems to be a UFO. But an adorable UFO that we all want to have around us. With such magic in the writing and the voice, we can't wait to listen to the whole album. That's our plan for this weekend. And you?
