Aaron Wylder - Summer's Here

January 19, 2023

Let's go to Victoria, BC (Canada), to meet the talented indie-folk musician Aaron Wylder.

His background story is quite interesting, he had a carefree childhood, growing up in the Cayman Islands, where he grew up around the unique landscapes of the islands, swamps, marshes, mangroves, and fishing in his kayak. However, in 2004 everything changed with the arrival of Hurricane Ivan, which completely destroyed his family home. Despite this adversity, Aaron and his family continued to live in the Cayman Islands until eventually immigrating to Canada in 2011. Music had always been a part of Aaron's life, but it wasn't until the pandemic hit that he truly found his voice as a singer-songwriter. He never stopped writing songs, and he's now back with a lovely folk tune you're going to love for sure.

Aaron Wylder's latest release, "Summer's Here", taken from the 3-track EP "Adventure Songs", is a beautiful and introspective indie folk song that showcases his talents as a singer-songwriter. The piano and acoustic guitar work together seamlessly to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The vocals are soft and emotive, perfectly capturing the ups and downs of love that the artist described. The melody is catchy and memorable, making it easy to get lost in the song's message.

One of the standout elements of "Summer's Here" is the lyrics, which are relatable and honest. About the song, Aaron confides:

"One night I was set to go out for a date and it got cancelled. It was whatever ,but I was pretty down cause I was excited for this date. It made me think about the ups and downs of love as an emotion. How we go from saying “Oh I need to be alone and work on myself! I am going to work out, not drink as much, etc..” Then out of the blue this perspective completely changes when you meet someone and you feel genuinely interested in them."

The artist's ability to convey the complexity of emotions associated with love and how it can change is impressive. The lyrics paint an original picture of the emotional journey and the imagery of contrasting 'winter' and 'summer' adds a layer of depth to the song.

The production is polished, but not overproduced, allowing the emotion of the song to shine through. Wherever you are, this song will definitely fit your indie-folk playlists. And our fans from Australia and New Zealand will appreciate this wink to their approaching Summer.
